Titan Nation, The 3rd quarter of our school year has come to an end. What seemed like just a couple of weeks was, in reality, three months filled with growth, opportunities, and valuable lessons. In particular, this quarter brought to us several True North staple events, like the annual Rhetoric School Student Symposium and 7th Grade Tallahassee Civics Trip. As the quarter ends, we are also filled with anticipation, as the True North Gala: Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary is just a few short weeks away. 2026 Rhetoric School Student Symposium |
|
This quarter, our annual Rhetoric School Symposium took place. The theme of this year's symposium was the virtue of courage. During the symposium our scholars participated in assemblies, Socratic discussions on Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, and meaningful conversations with fellow Titans. As an added bonus, our scholars enjoyed a special Raising Cane's lunch. Courage is the strength to face adversity and act rightly despite challenges. It is one of True North's pillar virtues. These pillar virtues are at the heart of everything our school does. Our goal is not only to form lifelong learners, but also individuals who are grounded in the good and align their purpose with their beliefs. |

A group of nearly 50 juniors participated on a 3-day college tour to visit some of our state's most prestigious universities. The tour included, the University of Central Florida (UCF), Florida State University (FSU), the University of Florida (UF), the University of South Florida (USF), and Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Our dedicated College Counseling team supports scholars throughout their journey, helping them find the best-fit universities and navigate the admissions process. As a result, students are consistently accepted into top institutions. Some of this this year's notable acceptances include Harvard, Cornell, Notre Dame, Boston University, Villanova, Hillsdale and Tulane. |

7th Grade Tallahassee Trip |
|
The 2025 – 2026 True North 7th Grade Tallahassee Trip took place this past February. Over the course of two weeks, our scholars traveled to our state capital for an immersive civics experience. During their visit, they explored the Historic Florida Capitol Building, the Florida Supreme Court, the Florida Department of Education, the Florida House Chamber, the Florida Senate Chamber, and a Senate committee room. Our scholars also had the honor of hearing from Speaker of the House Daniel Perez, Supreme Court Justice John Couriel, Commissioner of Education Stasi Kamoutsas, future Speaker of the House Jennifer Canady, Representative Omar Blanco, and other Florida political leaders. This annual trip brings civics to life and remains a favorite among students and families, reflecting True North’s commitment to developing engaged, community-minded individuals. |

The True North Arete Program hosted two special events this quarter. FIU President and True North alumni parent Jeanette Nunez led a panel on leadership. Drawing on her experience as FIU President and former Lieutenant Governor, she encouraged scholars to pursue virtue and lead with purpose. The session concluded with a Q&A and an invitation for scholars to visit FIU for a VIP tour. Renowned Frost School of Music artists and True North Parents Karen Lord-Powell and Brian Powell, accompanied by Will Gannon delivered an engaging performance at True North Classical Academy, Sunset, as part of the Arete Program. The presentation guided scholars through the evolution of Western classical music, featuring works by Haydn, Couperin, Glière, and Rzewski. Arete is the ancient Greek concept that human excellence means always reaching toward one's full potential in an endeavor. This directly connects to the True North's mission, so we developed the Arete program events and experiences to continue to challenge and enrich our students at the True North upper school community. |

Olivia Hong, Girl Scouts Silver Badge |

Olivia Hong, a 5th grader at our Dadeland campus, earned her Girl Scouts Silver Badge by planning, fundraising, and building two Little Libraries now located at the front of the school and in the outdoor play area for True North scholars to enjoy. The Silver Badge recognizes leadership, initiative, and meaningful community impact. Little Libraries are nationally registered, free book-sharing spaces that inspire a love of reading and generosity. |

Dadeland scholars who are part of our new club, Titans in Action, participated in their first direct service activity.
More than 60 Titans joined a beach cleanup at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. As Titans, our scholars understand the importance of living virtuous lives and helping their communities thrive. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their weekend to make a difference. |

Several of our True North Classical Academy teachers and faculty members participated and led a series of professional development opportunities. True North Classical Academy hosted a special leadership session with Doug Lemov, a world-renowned expert in teacher training for five True North leaders. Mr. Paul Powell helped coordinated the event with Florida Charter Institute (FCI) and brought together top Florida charter school leaders. Additionally, Mr. Patricio Mendez, our philosophy chair at our Sunset campus, presented at the Alcuin Fellowship Mid-Atlantic Retreat at Eastern University. His talk explored how educators can help students cultivate wisdom and meaning in an age shaped by artificial intelligence. True North Classical Academy is fortunate to have some of the best teachers in our state and nation. That is why we are constantly seeking for ways to help them grow as professionals and individuals. |

The Miami-Dade Police Department Special Response Team, which includes a True North parent, visited True North Classical Academy, Dadeland. During their presentation, they provided our scholars with information about the high-risk tactical missions they respond to, shared details on some of their most unique equipment, and showcased their Spot robot. |

National English Honor Society Scholars at Gateway |

This Thursday, our National English Honor Society Scholars (NEHS) visited our Gateway campus. During their visit, they led a series of enrichment activities, such as reading and art, with our scholars. They concluded their visit with a fun Easter egg hunt that put our Tiny Titans in the Easter spirit. |

Our art scholars have had an exciting quarter filled with incredible opportunities, competitions, and recognitions in various art exhibitions. Additionally, our students’ artistic interpretations of sweet treats were displayed at Wall's Old Fashioned Ice Cream shop, where customer votes helped select designs that will now be used to promote the business. Our scholars also participated in the Miami Greek Festival, where a variety of their work, such as bracelets, paintings, and ceramics, celebrating Greek history and culture were not only on display but also available for sale. The quarter ended on a high note with an art exhibition in the True North Classical Academy Music Room, where several of their artistic masterpieces were showcased. The immersive exhibition did not only highlight the talent of our art scholars, but also the strength and commitment of our elite Art Department. |

Our Dadeland 6th grade scholars had the enriching opportunity to attend a performance at the New World Symphony alongside Mrs. Padron. Through this experience, students were immersed in a world-class musical setting, where they experienced the beauty and complexity of an orchestra performance. |

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on Tour |

Our Drama Scholars hosted a series of special assemblies in our Dadeland and Gateway Campuses. During their assemblies, they performed the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, a classical book read by our scholars in our lower schools. The True North Drama Program is rapidly growing. Last year, the program presented its second performance, Little Women, at Miami Dade College. On April 10th and 11th they will be at the Alper JCC Miami performing Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella. |

Spring sports are in full swing, and our Titans are showing incredible skill and determination across the board. Baseball: Our True North Baseball team is 13-7 and recently beat Doral Academy, a top ranked team. Girls Beach Volleyball: The girls beach volleyball team continues to impress with a 9-1 record. They are currently ranked 42 in the nation. Boys Volleyball: Boys Volleyball has the highest strength of schedule in the state and and is ranked 2nd overall in the State of Florida in our division. Girls Flag Football: Our rapidly growing flag football team is off to a strong start with an 8-2 record. The team is ranked 5th in the state. Tennis: The boys tennis team is ranked 1st in the state and are currently undefeated with a 7-0 record. The girls tennis team is showing #TitanStrong determination with a 7-1 record. Both of our teams are the defending state champions. Track & Field: Our track and field athletes have had a competitive season, with several standout performances. Notably, Lukas Arrojo achieved an extraordinary feat by placing in 1st place in three different events. |

We honored this incredible contribution during a special dedication ceremony just before the True North – Doral Academy baseball game. Thank you, Milton Family, for your generosity and support. Your gift will leave a lasting impact, inspiring our student-athletes for years to come. |

Titans from our Dadeland, Gateway, and Pinecrest campuses battled it out during our annual Clash of the Titans.
This year’s competition was like no other. Several relay races required video review to determine the winner, and for the first time in True North history, there were 3 tiebreakers to determine outcome of the winning classes. At the end, the winner of the True North Clash of the Titans highly coveted hammer was Gateway. |
