Happy Easter Everyone! Sorry to say this is not a joyful easter message, but maybe a reminder. This week I want to talk about holidays and how for many they are anything but happy occasions anymore. I stopped celebrating the holidays for they became just another day to me, they became a memory of what was. For many holidays remind them of their losses and family that are no longer around. Many are alone now for holidays and it can trigger grief all over again. 

 

We all have stories of grief, stories we have stopped telling because other people got tired of hearing it. But the fact is people never stop grieving they just learn to live without their loved ones and they want to talk about their loved ones, especially during holiday time.

 

Thankfully we are blessed here in the North Country that we have so many alternative healers who offer people opportunities to bring healing into their lives. Stephanie Weiner is one of these people. She lost her husband a year ago and it was a traumatic loss. Her healing is happening because she is creating space for telling her grief story.

 

Stephanie wants to invite others who have experienced grief and loss to join her at a new program she is starting called Story Slam: Grief and Loss which will be held on May 12, 2026 @ 6 - 8 pm at the Whitefield Library.

 

This will be a safe gathering for anyone who has experienced grief and wants to share their stories of their loved ones and dealing with that loss. This group offers safety and a non-judgmental atmosphere to everyone.
