USDA Cancels Land Access Program for Young Farmers
Agency officials say the $300 million program represented ‘wasteful spending.’
The USDA recently terminated nearly all contracts under a $300 million program designed to help beginning farmers — including many women, Indigenous, and historically underserved producers — access land and capital. The cuts have drawn sharp pushback from farm advocates, and affected organizations have 30 days to appeal.
