For the past several days, our scholars have demonstrated the importance of living a life rooted in virtue and character. Many students from across our campuses came together during their spare time to serve their community. At True North, we strive to form individuals who are rich in mind, knowledge, and soul. This week, our scholars put on full display exactly why this mission matters.

Patriotic Show

This week, True North Classical Academy held its final Patriotic Show of the year. This tradition is especially meaningful because our scholars come together as one Titan Family to:

To prepare for this event, our scholars learn the songs and the meaning behind these melodies. They learn that our freedom is something to be valued, that unity makes us stronger, and that love of the ideals of this country is something to be celebrated.

 

As Titans, we are committed to valuing, celebrating, and protecting these principles. We must all do our part to ensure our country remains a beacon of hope in this world.

Titans in Action

A group of Pinecrest scholars participated in a service activity as part of our school’s initiative, Titans in Action.

 

Our scholars divided into groups and took on various tasks, such as picking up and sorting litter. As one Titan family, they were able to collect a significant amount of litter that will be recycled.

 

This service activity was conducted in partnership with Pick Up For Cancer, Inc., a nonprofit organization that raises funds for cancer treatment and research through the collection and recycling of litter.

The Giving Grill

The Giving Grill is a student-led nonprofit founded by five high school students: Macsen Rowlands, Nicolas Bello, Aaron Sparaga, Milad Farajzadeh, and Travis Phinney.

 

Recently, The Giving Grill partnered with The Caring Place to host a large-scale meal service in the Wynwood/Overtown area at 2020 NW 1st Ave. The event served approximately 250 individuals facing food insecurity.

 

A defining aspect of the initiative was its emphasis on quality. The group prepared and served over 150 pounds of steak. The event was made possible through a combination of community-driven fundraising efforts, including donations, raffles, and selling steaks, with the founders actively involved in cooking and preparing food both for fundraising and for the event itself. The event was also supported by Texas Roadhouse as a sponsor.

 

The organization’s mission is to provide meals that go beyond basic sustenance and instead offer dignity and higher-quality food to those who often only have access to minimal or highly processed options. The founders are fully hands-on, leading every part of the process from fundraising to cooking to serving.

 

The collaboration with The Caring Place represents an important step in building partnerships with established nonprofits and increasing their reach within the Miami community.

Coach Dan Bisaccio on Courtesy 

Coach Dan Bisaccio, Skyforce Head Coach for the Miami Heat, visited True North Classical Academy – Pinecrest and held a special assembly on our virtue of the month: courtesy. Coach Bisaccio highlighted the importance of this virtue, especially in professional sports. His talk was both motivating and encouraging, inspiring students to live lives rooted in virtue and character.

 

Dan Bisaccio is entering his 10th year with the HEAT organization and his first as a Player Development Coach. In this role, his primary responsibilities include mentoring and developing HEAT players, as well as assisting the coaching staff with special projects.
