Happy Sunday Everyone! This week I want to talk about courage because it really does take a lot of courage to live on this planet, especially in today's world. But I want to talk about personal courage because I don't think we even think about how courageous we are. It takes courage to embrace change in our lives, especially as we get older. Whether it is courage to walk away from a relationship, career, home, whatever the change may be. When we are younger change, even though still scary, didn't seem that bad, in fact it was exciting most of the time. But for those of us in our 60's change is scarier because we may be struggling with health issues or worried about finances as we approach retirement age. It takes courage to make necessary changes in our lives. The one thing that helps me embrace change and face my fears and insecurities is talking about them. Being allowed to talk about our fears and insecurities can help change our perspective about a situation we are facing. Talking about it makes it less scary and more manageable, it also reminds us we are not alone. One thing I am always encouraging people to do is trust their hearts and not their heads. Fear exists between our ears, not in our hearts. Our head can cause us to doubt ourselves and our ability to overcome. Your heart will always remind you of how brave you really are. When facing change, especially in later years of life ask your heart if it's the right thing to do. If you feel a sense of peace or a strong pull to that path then trust it, even when it is difficult to walk away from a current situation. The Universe will always direct you to where you need to be, we just need to trust that feeling and desire. But more than that trust that you have everything you need to succeed and to be happy. And most importantly remember you are NOT alone in life, seek out those like-minded souls to support you in those tough times. Change can be less scary and more exciting when you are open to it. Remember, you are the most courageous person I know. My office hours are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesdays from 10 - 6 PM. Scheduling is available online via my website which is back up and running.
