On April 17th, the College of Coastal Georgia cut the ribbon on its beautiful, new Center for the Arts, a cultural and creative hub that will host high-quality events and performances for both students and the Coastal Georgia community.
Several Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hodnett Cooper Real Estate team members were in attendance, touring the 32,328-square-foot facility and celebrating
the exciting launch, which included a baby grand piano playing in the lobby.
The auditorium accommodates up to 1,000 guests and features professional-level acoustics. Upcoming events include concerts, conferences, comedy shows, theatrical performances, lectures, conferences, weddings, corporate gatherings, and community arts programming.
Johnny L. Evans, Jr., Ph.D. will be inaugurated on April 27th as the seventh president of the College of Coastal Georgia. The inauguration will take place at the new Center for the Arts, and will also include the Transforming Lives Scholarship Gala, a fitting title for a leader committed to transformative change.
In Dr. Evans' welcome letter, the soon-to-be President highlights the continued growth of the college, with a nationally ranked nursing
program, a new arts center, vibrant academic programs and competitive athletics teams.
As Dr. Evans describes it, the college is a "place of discovery, filled with boundless opportunities that await you."

I pledged a yearly donation to the Navigator's Club because I believe there's a lot more than goes into running the entirety of CCGA than I first realized. For example, I got to speak before the CCGA Foundation Board and met a lot of the trustees when I was chosen as CCGA's outstanding scholar representative. I even had a chance to meet the chancellor of the University System of Georgia, Sunny Perdue, in Atlanta. These academic leaders make CCGA such a positive place
to learn and thrive, and I want to support their incredible collective efforts. My time at CCGA was life-changing and I will always hold that experience close to my heart!
My younger brother, Nash Garris, is also attending CCGA, and it's important for me to set a positive example that he can follow.
Having accessible higher education so close to home is an invaluable resource. I believe it’s extremely important to invest in our local community and the people and institutions creating opportunities for our local students. Ultimately, they will be the ones who work, live and lead the Golden Isles. It's more than education; it's the future! I'm proud to support an organization that helps our community prosper.
