Dear Sunday Sparker,

I have not told you this before.

Sometimes when I feel I ran wild over the weekend, I make rules to balance it out in the week after.

Running wild for me today means eating so much bread and watching too much TV.

It could mean an array of things to you.
It could mean being snappy with someone in your family. It could be overspending. Oversleeping. Undersleeping. Overgossiping. Overcoffeeing. Staying on screens for too long. It could be any guilty pleasure you indulged in, while very knowingly realizing it is not doing you any good.

What do you do?
You reset.

You say, “No TV or bread till the weekend.” “No spending for two weeks.” “No gossiping. Period.”

You get it.

I am not giving you tickets to indulge. I am giving you exit lanes to start over.

This group…the readers of this newsletter? We can be hard on ourselves if we feel we lost track of our goals. We can easily dismiss any progress we made.

We did not lose track of our goals. You did not. You just had your kids doing online schooling; trying to get anything done was nothing short of a miracle. You just had a tough winter, sister. You were just glued to the news and couldn't help it. Or, you were just on vacation. Yes, we can be hard on ourselves even on vacations.

We deviate all the time for big and small reasons, and sometimes for seasons.

We  might even need to consider new goals that match our new season.

You are not alone!

The issue we should worry about is how long it takes us to correct course.

It’s a new week! Start over.

Make some guardrail rules to keep you on the path; “Sleep by 10:30pm max” is an example.

Make a pact and share it with someone you care about. Add the promise of a nice gift to yourself when you commit for a number of days that you decide.

New Week.
New Start.

Always.

P.S. Let’s chat if you are considering hiring me to train your team on the art of setting and achieving goals, mastering your focus for higher performance or the science of building healthy habits in a full-day or half-a-day workshop.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with:

1. 🎙️ Have you heard? I am back to podcasting! I released the third episode for this season last week about the most important habit in my life. Listen here and on on YouTube.  Your podcast reviews matter so much! I can't believe we are this close to episode 100.

2. ✨ Why free time doesn’t feel like free time. I also just found out that Laura Vanderkam is releasing a new book very soon called Big Time. Exciting!

 3. 💬 Quote of the week is aligned with the title of this newsletter 🤩 :

"Often we expect to be inspired, but sometimes you are the spark others are waiting for!" ―Thea Monyee, The Passion Planner.

New Week. New Start. Always.
