I got this email just yesterday: 

 

"Our smart, playful, energetic, and loving rescue, Lola, a Mountain Feist mixed breed, was diagnosed with incurable TCC bladder cancer in December 2022 at age 7. Heartbroken and devastated, my wife Cheryl and I had her bladder wall tumor surgically debulked. The surgeon was unable to obtain clean margins. 

 

She remained stable for a year and a half on piroxicam. Then, the bladder wall tumor began to grow again, and a secondary tumor appeared in her trigone urethral area. Six months of chemotherapy followed, but it was unsuccessful. 

 

Last May 2025, Lola’s home veterinarian recommended euthanasia based on ultrasound monitoring. But Lola wasn’t checking all the boxes. Even while straining to urinate at times, she could still pass a good stream. She was eating normally, playful, happy, and walking over a mile a day with me and her Lab mix sister, Roxy. 

 

After several sleepless nights of research, I believe God led me to posts and sites about the Yale study vaccine. We enrolled her at Partner Veterinary, and Lola received her first vaccine in June 2025. Lola received her first booster just last week, nearly 11 months later, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude. 

 

We cannot thank Dr. Mark Mamula and his entire Yale Vaccine Study Team enough, along with Dr. Melissa Miller and Team Advocate Veterinary Assistant Taylor Baker. Your empathy and 100% commitment to keeping dogs like Lola alive through this remarkable, God sent Yale vaccine have given us time we thought we lost. 

 

Lola, who was written off for euthanasia nearly a year ago, is still very much alive. She is playful, happy, eating, engaged, and able to urinate. We are grateful beyond what these words can express. To us, this vaccine is a 100% miracle of God, made possible through Dr. Mamula, his team, and Partner Veterinary.   With deepest gratitude, Richard Salerno"
