Eight days! That is all that stands between us and one of the most important nights of the year for adult literacy in North Texas.

For over a decade, Toast to Literacy has been the engine behind Aspire's life-changing literacy programs. The learners we serve are counting on the momentum we build in rooms like this one.

Every seat filled is a direct investment in an adult learner working to achieve their goals, support their family, and break the cycle of low literacy.
Unable to join us in person? You can still be part of this night. Underwriting and donation options are open, and every dollar moves us closer to the generational change this community deserves.

Visit toasttoliteracy.org to get your tickets, explore sponsorship or underwriting opportunities, or make a gift. However you choose to show up, we are grateful and so are our learners.

The People Who Make It Possible
Every April, we celebrate National Volunteer Month! But our gratitude for Aspire's volunteers does not start or stop with a single month on the calendar.

Every week, we get to see it firsthand: volunteer teachers showing up, rolling up their sleeves, and changing lives. They sit across the table from adult learners, helping them build reading skills, navigate a new language, and gain the confidence to pursue a better job. That is not a small thing. That is someone's entire trajectory shifting because another person chose to show up.

Across Texas, 6.5 million people volunteer each year, and every single one of them is part of something meaningful. At Aspire, that looks like real relationships built week after week, giving learners the courage to keep going. It is showing up for another person, and watching what becomes possible because of it.

The impact does not stop in the classroom. Skills learned here travel home, into workplaces, and through entire families. One person's breakthrough opens doors for the people around them.

To our volunteers: you are the program. Thank you for everything you give.

Volunteering with Aspire does not require teaching experience; it requires heart. If you have that, we will take care of the rest.

What Brings A Volunteer Through the Door

A retired engineer. A Fort Worth attorney. A marketing professional from South Dakota. On the surface, Chuck, Dan, and Shi-Anne do not have much in common, but each of them found their way to Aspire and brought something uniquely their own.

Chuck spent years teaching at West Point and working across three continents before finding his way to Aspire's adult reading program. Dan heard a radio announcement in 2011 and walked in two days later, and has never left. Shi-Anne wanted to follow in her mom's footsteps as a teacher and discovered that an online classroom 1,500 miles away was close enough to feel its impact.

What they will each tell you is that they got back more than they gave. A deeper sense of purpose. A shift in how they see the people around them. The joy of watching someone sound out a word, crack a joke in a second language, or show up early with homework done after riding three buses in the rain.

That is what volunteering at Aspire looks like. Different people, different paths, and the same conviction that this work matters.
