There are some exciting milestones to share this week as more visible pieces of the building are beginning to come together. Here’s what’s been happening:
What’s Been Happening
The carpentry on the stage is finished! The oak steps on the front look amazing. Next, the flooring team will apply stain and finish to the steps, followed by carpet installation on the stage.
The painting team continues its steady work. The bathroom and childcare areas in the fellowship hall have been primed and will receive their finish coats before flooring and ceilings are installed.
Jerry Clement began replacing light fixtures in the sanctuary this past week. In addition to new fixtures, he’s also correcting some past installation issues, which will serve us well long-term.
The brick wall has been completed, and it looks terrific. This was the former double-door opening to the house side, now converted into an ADA bathroom. Thanks to a great team effort—especially Caleb Martin and Sofi Stonehouse, along with others who gathered over 400 bricks from around the property—more than 300 reclaimed bricks were used to complete the wall. The finished result was well worth the effort!
Paul Ash continues laying the groundwork for our new sound system and sound booth. With help from Lawrence Bower and Andy Fordham, work has begun on repurposing the old organ casing into the new sound booth.
Our new parking lot signs have arrived and will be installed this week. Thanks to Amy Martin for overseeing this—everything looks great!
Looking Ahead
Work Day This Saturday, April 25th | 9am–1pm
We’d love to have you join us this Saturday as we continue making progress together. Projects for the day include but are not limited to:
Continuing exterior work on the house
Filling with topsoil, grading, and seeding the area where the sidewalk was removed between the house and sanctuary
Mulching the beds surrounding the sanctuary
Beginning the cleaning process in the sanctuary in preparation for carpet installation (it’s dusty work, but an important step forward!)
Save the Dates
Our projected first Sunday in the new building is June 7th, though we’re remaining flexible as we continue to navigate the final steps needed to get there.
Upcoming work days:May 2nd, May 16th, and May 30th. These days will help us keep momentum going as we work toward getting the building ready!
Thank you for continuing to serve, give, and step into this season with such faithfulness. It’s encouraging to see how each week brings us closer, and we’re grateful to be moving forward together.
