Hi First name / friend!

“I have no idea what on earth we're going to talk about…"

This is what Jean S., an 89-year-old woman at a local assisted living facility (pictured above on the right), said to me as a I sat down to interview her.

An hour later and fifteen minutes later, we were still talking. Rather, she was still talking.

In doing this work, I'm finding that sometimes, the greatest gift we can offer – particularly to this segment of the population – is a listening ear…

MINISTRY UPDATE

Assisted living facility outreach
Following a conversation with a group of 20 women at a local assisted living facility last month (pictured above), I've been meeting with many of them individually to record their stories and wisdom.

They seem delighted to have someone interested in hearing what they have to say…Noreen D., an 84-year-old woman who I recently interviewed, said at the end of our session: “Wow, I haven't shared any of that in a while. That was fun!"

I'll be sharing their stories on social media in the upcoming weeks, so keep a lookout!

Article about Eternal Echoes published in local paper
Earlier this month, an article was published about Eternal Echoes in the local paper, The Hilton Head Sun. It was a true honor to be featured in this way! You can read the full article by clicking the button below.

THE LATEST FROM THE PODCAST

What if the solution to youth loneliness, identity confusion, and generational division isn’t another program—but a return to spiritual family?

With insight from decades in youth ministry and his books "Voices" and "Reimagining Church as Family," Dr. Rich Griffith explains:

-What’s really behind adolescent identity struggles
-Why fear keeps generations apart
-How to respond when young people ask hard questions
-Why listening is one of the most powerful forms of discipleship

Wise words worth echoing:
  • “We do not do a good job lamenting with others. Our young people, and our older people, are lamenting, but who are they lamenting with? The one thing everybody needs in the midst of difficulties, and in celebration, is each other."

The more I read, the more convinced I am that God actually knows what He is doing—and that the assignment He's given me is no accident. (listen, sometimes, we just need those reminders, right?!)

Just last week I came across the term “Early Onset Birder Syndrome"—a trend describing young people taking up birdwatching, a pastime once stereotypically reserved for older adults, but now gaining traction as many seek a break from constant screen time.

To me, it feels like another quiet signal of something deeper: a growing desire to return to the “past” or simpler times…and who better to ask what those times were like than today's elders?

Here are a few other articles I've come across in the past month that speak to the mission of Eternal Echoes:

“Instead of resisting the signs of age, we are advised to honor the elderly and see them as sources of wisdom and experience without neglecting the obligation to care for and heal them."

"After years of declining religiosity, the percentage of young men saying religion is very important in their lives and reporting attendance at religious services rose markedly between 2022-2023 and 2024-2025."

“Another benefit these impromptu conversations offer: the momentary glow that comes from simply being acknowledged. Against the backdrop of society so focused on young people, I can occasionally feel marginalized, relegated to the sidelines.”

"I Don't Care if Gen Z Likes Me” - The Free Press
"Wisdom isn’t persuasive to people who haven’t earned it yet."

GUEST APPEARANCE ON
“AN EPIPHANY WITH TIFFANY"

Earlier this month, I had the honor of being a guest on the podcast, “An Epiphany with Tiffany." Full disclosure: we talked mostly about what it's like being single in your 30s (hallelujah, I'm not the only one!), but in the beginning of our conversation I had a chance to share a little bit of my heart behind Eternal Echoes…

You can listen to/watch the full episode on Apple, Spotify or YouTube.

See you back here in May!
Blessings,
Katharine Rose
