Hey friends,
It’s been a busy few months full of painting, teaching and planning for the months ahead! As many of you know, I will wrap-up 30 years of teaching teenagers to think and be through art making. It has been a defining and rewarding trip! I will truly miss those daily conversations about existential crises, the food in the cafeteria, bad haircuts and why the world works the way it does… but mostly I will miss the magical transformation I have been able to witness of young people finding their passion, vision and identity as they move through my studio. I have been so blessed.
Teaching is a big part of my creative process, the energy I gather from working in community is vital to my own art making. In September, I will join a handful of other artists at La Maison de Beaumont in Pertuis, France where I will make art for 6-weeks. Upon my return, I hope to teach at the university level. Let's see if they want me! :)
But before that, I have a summer of studio work (including my summer painting challenge), family time, reorganization, reconnection and reflection. Starting off with a one-day show at the National Botanic Gardens in Chantilly. I love this show!! Details below!
