Hi First name / friend!

I keep coming back to this idea over and over again:

The most intentional business owners I know are the ones who have an “off button.” They're the ones who have small rituals that keep them grounded so they can tap back into why they started their own thing in the first place.

And creative prompts that aren’t tied to deliverables, clients, or deadlines are one of the most underrated tools for leaning into that kind of intention.

Which I believe leads you to make decisions from a more centered place (and helps you show up for your clients/customers) differently as well.

So this week, I’m sharing two things:
1. A tactile creative ritual to help you come back to yourself, and
2. A strategic framework for letting your client work do more of the heavy lifting (so you can spend more time in that intentional space you create).

Plus, I’ll add a few fun finds worth your attention at the end!

Slow Creative Session:
Color Your Mood
Here's a ritual I’ve been doing that takes almost no time at all: Each day, pick up a crayon, colored pencil, or marker that matches how you feel and shade in one box on a 30-square grid.

Calm → soft blues, greens, or neutrals
Energetic → bright yellows, oranges, or pinks
Reflective → muted grays, deep purples, or earthy tones

By the end of the month, you'll have a colorful map of your inner weather.
Or, what is basically a visual journal of how your feelings ebb and flow over time and there a few good reasons why this seems to help:

01 → Research shows we associate colors with feelings, often before we can actually name those feelings.

02 → Pausing each day to notice your state is a form of mindfulness and naming an emotion is the first step in working with it. (You know, instead of forcing yourself to get through it.)

03 → Seeing 30 days laid out reveals patterns you'd otherwise miss like the anxious Mondays, the open Thursdays, the foggy mid-months, and so on.

04 → The act of shading – that gentle, repetitive motion – engages your hands in a way that quiets all the noise in your head. (Something designers already know intuitively.)

I hope you’ll try it. And if you do, let me know how it felt!

Off Grid Client Framework
Build a body of social proof: While we’re busy being bombarded and overwhelmed with AI options for this and that, the reality is that more and more clients who still hire service providers do so for the process as much as the work.

They hire you because of how their peers felt working alongside you and for the clarity and trust you bring long before any of the deliverables exist!

Drive referrals with a body of social proof that includes:
Testimonials → Words from clients who’ve actually felt what it means to work with you
Case Studies → A clear story behind the outcome/results
Before + After → Visible transformations
Kind Emails → Screenshots of “in the moment” reactions and real gratitude from clients
Process Glimpses → A behind-the-scenes of how you think, not just what you ultimately make
Client Results → Tangible outcomes with specific numbers attached to them whenever possible

The more proof you share over time, the less you actually need to sell. Your work, and your clients’ experiences, do the selling for you!

Fresh Finds To Fuel Your Creativity

  • I love knowing about things like my Human Design and Enneagram, but I don’t always know what the heck to do with that information later. If you feel the same way, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Enneagram In Real Life for a practical take on how to apply it.
  • Listen, if you could use a little whimsy (and who couldn’t right now?!), you need a subscription to Wordy & Wild. Just trust me on this one…you want to check it out!
  • One word: Chocolate. Yes, you deserve it. And yes, it lives up to the hype.
Quick disclaimer that none of the things I share are affiliate links unless I expressly tell you they are.
I’m just a big fan of sharing cool things with cool people!
