Late
(But Worth the Wait!)

First of all, we want to sincerely apologize for this late release! We tried to put a little too much on our plates and, as a result, we missed our scheduled April 1st update. We didn't want to push a half-baked release just to meet a deadline, so we made the tough call to postpone the update by a month to ensure everything works flawlessly.

But here we are, back on track and packed with new features and improvements!

A New Release Strategy

Moving forward, we have also decided to modify our release strategy. Instead of holding back everything for one giant monthly update, we will now roll out new features, fixes, and improvements as we go! This means you get access to new tools the moment they are ready.

Don't worry, though—we will still keep sending out a single monthly newsletter. It will serve as a helpful digest to describe everything that was deployed over the previous month, so you never miss a thing.

So, without further ado, let's have a look at what just arrived on Gestic.org!

What's New and Improved?

New Edit Modal: Managing Card Versions Just Got Easier
Previously on Gestic, editing the specific versions of a card in your collection required you to hover over the price or the flag to trigger a popup. We know this wasn't practical at all on mobile devices, and even on computers, it could be a bit challenging to navigate!
We have completely rebuilt this experience from the ground up. Now, you can simply click on the little gear icon located right next to the card price. This action opens a brand-new, mobile-friendly window where you have full control over your inventory.

From this new modal, you can easily:
Toggle the finish of a card (e.g., foil or non-foil).
Update the condition using a simple dropdown (NM, LP, etc.).
Manage inventory by quickly adding a completely new version with the green + Add Version button or deleting an existing one with the X.

This redesign makes editing your collection so much smoother, faster, and more intuitive across all your devices!

Value tracking: As you might have noticed in the new edition window, we didn't just stop at making things easier to click—we added a highly requested feature right alongside it!
Inside the new modal, you will now see two brand-new columns for your inventory: Bought and Bought On.

Bought: This field allows you to enter the exact price you paid for that specific version of the card.
Bought On: Use the built-in calendar to record the exact date you made the purchase.

Why is this helpful? If you treat your collection as an investment, or if you simply like keeping your accounting tight, these fields are perfect for tracking your history. Knowing exactly how much you spent—and when you spent it—makes it incredibly easy to see how the value of your individual cards has evolved over time. Whether you are holding onto a prized Gaea's Cradle or picking up bulk, you can now track your true collection costs without needing a separate spreadsheet!

Community Offers: We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new way to connect with other players and collectors on Gestic!

Have you ever been on the hunt for a specific card, only to find it out of stock or want to explore other options beyond local stores? Now, the platform actively helps you find what you need within the user base.

Here is how it works: If you have a card you need saved in a "Looking For" list, Gestic will automatically check if another user has that exact card available in their "Offering" list.

As you can see in the screenshot, if a match is found, it will appear right below the regular store listings under the new Community Offers section. You will be able to see the username of the person offering the card (like "Devemco"), the specific finish they have, and the current market price. (Note: For now, the system automatically displays the market price. We will be adding the ability to personalize your own sale prices in a future update!)

Connecting with the Seller
This feature makes trading and buying directly from the community easier than ever. Once you spot an offer you like, simply click on it! This will automatically open a direct message with that user so you can arrange the trade or purchase.

Important Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that Gestic is strictly here to help put people in contact. We do not act as a middleman, process payments, or serve as a tier of trust for these transactions. How you finalize the trade or sale is entirely up to you and the other user!

Speaking of sending messages... that perfectly tees up our next big announcement!

Direct Messaging: Connect with the Community
As we just mentioned, clicking on a Community Offer automatically opens a direct message. To fully support this, we have launched a dedicated, built-in messaging system!
You can now access your very own Inbox directly from the platform. We designed it to be clean, intuitive, and packed with the tools you need to communicate effectively with other players.

Here is what you will find in your new Inbox:
Compose New: Want to start a conversation from scratch? Just hit the big green "Compose New" button to send a message to any Gestic user.
Read Receipts: No more wondering if the other person saw your message! For messages you have sent, you will see a convenient green timestamp showing exactly when the recipient read it.
Message Management: Keep your communications organized. You can easily click Mark Unread if you want to remind yourself to reply to someone later, or hit Delete to clean up old, finished threads.
Clear Overview: At a glance, you can see the subject of the conversation (which automatically populates if you click a Community Offer!), the participant you are talking to, and the dates for all your incoming and outgoing mail.

Whether you are haggling over a trade, finalizing a purchase from a Community Offer, or just saying hi to a fellow collector, this new inbox keeps all your Gestic communications in one convenient place!

Spot Your Game Changers: Have you ever wanted to quickly identify the most impactful cards in a deck list? Now you can! We've introduced a fun new feature that automatically flags "Game Changer" cards in your lists.

As you can see in the deck's statistics overview, there is a new line tracking your Total Game Changers. Even better, when you scroll through your card list, these high-impact staples are highlighted with a bright green background (like the Seedborn Muse in the screenshot). This makes it incredibly easy to spot the heavy hitters and win conditions in any deck at a single glance!

Deck Type & Format Legality: Building a deck for a specific format? We've got you covered! You can now easily configure your deck and instantly check its legality across different formats.

By opening the new Configure Deck menu, you can select your target "Deck Type" (like Commander, Standard, Pioneer, etc.) from a simple dropdown. Once your deck is configured, Gestic will automatically analyze your entire list and display a comprehensive breakdown of its format legality.

As you can see in the background of the screenshot, you will get clear, color-coded badges indicating exactly where your brew stands:
Green (LEGAL): Your deck is good to go!
Gray (NOT LEGAL): Your deck contains cards not permitted in this format.
Red (BANNED): Your deck includes cards specifically banned in this format.

No more guessing if your latest creation is tournament-ready—Gestic does the checking for you!

Designate Your Commander: Building on the new Deck Type configuration and the redesigned Edit Modal, we have added a small but essential feature for our Commander players!

Once you configure your list as a "Deck" and set the type to "Commander," a new Commander column will automatically appear when you click the gear icon to edit a card.
As you can see in the screenshot, simply check the box next to your chosen legendary creature (like Go-Shintai of Life's Origin!), and Gestic will officially designate it as the commander of your deck. This keeps your decklists organized and makes it perfectly clear who is leading the charge!

Highlighted Feature of the Month: Everything

Usually, this is the part of the newsletter where we take a deep dive into one specific tool. However, with this release being so incredibly packed with updates, we couldn't just pick one!

Between the rebuilt Edit Modal, precise Value Tracking, Community Offers, the new built-in Inbox, and the Deck Legality checks, there are simply too many great additions to highlight just a single one. Picking a favorite this month felt impossible.

Instead of our usual deep dive, we encourage you to log in and take a look at all of these new tools one at a time. Go explore, try them out, and let us know which one ends up being your personal highlight of the month!

As always, We Need Your Input!

As always, We Need Your Input!

First and foremost, we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. Your support makes Gestic what it is! We would love it if you could share the website with your friends and local playgroups. After all, the more users we have on the platform, the more vibrant and useful the new Community Offers will become for everyone!

We also still need your help to keep growing our store network—please let us know which local shops you want to see on Gestic (you can view the list of currently onboarded stores on your configuration page). As always, we are completely open to your ideas and suggestions, and we are always here for you if you have any questions. Don't hesitate to reach out!

What’s Next?
We know we teased a brand-new AI model for the scanner in our last update. While we didn't quite get the chance to bring the new model into this specific release, don't worry—it is still very much planned and in the works!

In the meantime, we have already deployed significant under-the-hood updates that greatly improve our processing response times, making the platform noticeably snappier when you are managing your collection.

Thanks for being an incredible part of Gestic's journey. Your support means the world to us,

Jean-Marc Spaggiari
