Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate the community being forged here on April 29 for our feast day. One year! One year of intentionally working together, despite vastly different industries, skillsets, talents, and journeys. One year of honoring the dignity of work and our coworkers by washing a dish, changing a roll of TP, turning the background music down, turning the background music up, starting a puzzle, sharing spare aux/hdmi/charging cords, sharing fancy coffee creamers, bringing in bagels… and celebrating milestones. One year of building one another in virtue through the way of beauty and learning the rhythms of fasting and feasting. And April 29th’s feast proved a true blessing of friendship, community, and joy!

 

We also got to experience joy last Saturday when friend, and neighborhood treasure, Marcus Baron held his album release show here at the Cottage. If you and your little one missed it, you can still support the album endeavor here, just in time for summer car rides.

Meet Carlus Henry! Carlus works as the principal software engineer for SageTech, his consultancy firm where he helps big and small teams solve big and small problems through software development and implementation. He’s also a husband and the father of seven and grandfather of one!! Carlus is one of our founding members but took a sabbatical abroad this past fall with his family. His work/life motto could be summed up with a brief verse from the Gospel of Mark (9:24) “Lord I believe, help my unbelief”. Traveling abroad on sabbatical as a tech consultant in this tumultuous landscape might put that to the test- ask him about it. You might also ask him about the morality of AI or how to perfect a back hand spring in the backyard with uneven landscaping.

Looking for a place to focus, to escape, to make a call, to do deep work, to swap ideas, to be distracted by people not algorithms– come on down to Turner Ave. There’s plenty of street parking. There’s plenty of coffee.
