We've been talking all month about design that connects and I want to close out May with one of my favorite tools in Canva: Background Remover.
You might be thinking that sounds too simple. And yeah, it kind of is. But it quietly makes everything look more polished.
Here's why it matters:
When you remove a background from a photo, you're not just cleaning up an image, you're giving yourself options. You can place a person or product over any color, any texture, any layout. Your graphic suddenly has layers, depth, and versatility.
A few ways to use it well:
🧑💼 Speaker and brand photos — Drop yourself onto a brand-colored background for a consistent look across your speaker sheet, social graphics, and email headers.
📦 Products or objects — Isolate an item and place it anywhere or make your own product mockup. No more fighting with a busy background that clashes with your design.
🎨 More design control — When your subject is cleanly cut out, you can build around it instead of designing despite it.
One tool = cleaner visuals + a layout that finally does what you want it to.
