Here's an overview of your orientation program:
Our orientation program is required for all incoming exchange students and consists of two parts:
1. Rochester Ready: Designed to introduce you to University academics and student life, this online orientation programconsists of four components to be finished over the summer, before you arrive on campus in August.
Complete the new student checklist.
Attend required webinars, watch required resource videos, and complete required modules in Blackboard.
Connect with your academic advisor and register for your fall classes.
Get to know your Orientation Leaders and incoming classmates.
2. Fall Welcome Week:Connect with other incoming exchange students, learn to navigate campus and academics, and celebrate some of our unique URochester traditions from Monday, August 24 through Saturday, August 29.
How to navigate your required tasks:
The exchange students page on our website is a comprehensive guide to all the required items you need to complete before your URochester semester begins. We know it can look a bit overwhelming–here are a few tips to get you started:
Complete the enrollment tasks to make sure your online accounts are all set up and accessible before you begin your other tasks.
Review the systems and platforms page to familiarize yourself with the different systems you’ll be using this summer and during your semester abroad.
Subscribe to the Fall 2026 checklist calendar to add all the dates from the exchange students page to your personal calendar, with reminders 24–48 hours before each deadline so you can stay on track.
In addition to the exchange students page and the other resourceson our website, here are the other ways you can expect to connect with us and other incoming exchange students throughout the summer:
Rochester Ready newsletters: This orientation newsletter will start sending to you in early June (along with whoever you've added as your parent or guardian in UR Student). Full of important resources and upcoming deadlines for incoming students, you'll want to be sure to review each issue. (But if you happen to miss one, they will be posted on our website, too.)
Orientation Leaders: You will be assigned one of our awesome Orientation Leaders, who will serve as your point of contact throughout the summer for questions and help connect you with other incoming students through fun online activities. Look out for their introductions on Instagram in early June!
Instagram: Your Orientation Leaders will be taking over ourInstagram account this summer to give you insider tips, sneak peeks of campus, and help get you ready for your semester abroad.
We're here for you.
