Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with Real (smart) Budgets |

Dear First name / friend, |
|
Coming to you on Mother’s Day with a special wish to all the moms, daughters, and honorary aunts out there today. Mother’s Day is one that brings up lots of feelings for me, but most of all, gratitude. First, for the 97 years I had with my own beloved mom, Mary. She is so missed, but I feel her with us every day — whether I'm wearing her favorite color ❤️ or catching myself saying something that sounds exactly like her.
I’m also so grateful for my Godmother Jay—Mary’s best friend—who, at 95-ish, is one of the most vibrant, active, and wonderful women I have ever known. And of course, I’m incredibly grateful for my three wonderful sons. They aren’t with me today, but the brothers were all together yesterday in Chicago – the next best thing. And in a few weeks, we’ll all be in Charleston for a special wedding - can't wait! I’m not sure I’ve ever shared about the road we traveled to become parents, but it was a long one—five years of intense infertility treatment and advanced IVF procedures (called ICSI back then). Looking back now, after all the stress, heartbreak, losses, and uncertainty, the fact that we ended up with these three amazing sons and this beautiful life truly takes my breath away with gratitude. So while Mother’s Day can be joyful and celebratory, I also know it can be emotional and difficult for many who are dealing with loss, longing, complicated relationships, or struggles in this area. My thoughts are with you too. No matter what today looks like for you, I hope you take a little time to do something you enjoy and take good care of yourself. Now, here’s what went on at B.Styled this week… |

It's crazy, but this reel has passed 175k views, and it’s been really interesting to see what resonated most. The biggest takeaway? Women don’t necessarily want complicated outfits or more clothes…they want simple ways to make what they already own look better. This reel was all about easy, real-life outfit fixes that you can implement today, no shopping required. I've mentioned before that IG and making reels is something I have a love-hate relationship with, so it's nice when something resonates with my ladies. Thank you so much for watching, commenting, sharing, and saving it! 👇🏼 |

2. Pant Length Pant Review (for everyone, but especially PETITES) |
|
One of the biggest reasons pants feel “off” on petites has nothing to do with your body—and everything to do with length. A difference of just 1–2 inches can completely change how flattering a pair looks. For petites especially, getting the length right helps create a longer, cleaner leg line and keeps jeans from looking too short, too wide, or unintentionally dated. A simple rule of thumb: Straight ankle pants should hit about 1–2” above the ankle bone and show just a small amount of ankle—not a full crop or capri. Relaxed wide-leg pants should be longer, covering most of the top of the foot with a slight break so the fabric falls and drapes instead of kicking out. Below are a few visual examples so you can see the difference between too short, almost right, and just right. |
|
All of the jeans in these examples are from my current favorite denim source, Quince—great quality, modern styles, multiple rises, rinses, and inseams, and most are around $50. One important note: the model photos on the site don’t always show the most flattering length for real women, especially petites, so pay attention to the rise and inseam measurements—not just the styling photo. |

This week’s find is a new-to-me shoe brand that actually reached out to me knowing my clientele is always looking for quality, classic, comfortable shoes for difficult feet: Ally Shoes What makes them different is that they are truly focused on fit and comfort without sacrificing style. Their shoes are designed with the help of a podiatric surgeon and engineered to relieve pressure points while still looking polished and elevated. One of the things that impressed me most is their attention to sizing and fit. They offer: 👉🏼 Half sizes 👉🏼 Four widths (narrow, medium, wide, and extra wide) 👉🏼 A Fit Finder quiz to help determine your best fit based on both length and width 👉🏼 Some made-to-order options for a more customized fit experience Their handcrafted shoes are made with premium lambskin leather, soft stretchy lining, and ergonomic cushioned insoles designed to support real feet — including feet that are hard to fit. And the styles are exactly the kind of timeless, wearable designs many of us are looking for: 👉🏼 Pumps (kitten or block heel, different heights) 👉🏼 Ballet flats 👉🏼 Loafers 👉🏼 Slingbacks 👉🏼 Boots 👉🏼 Classic neutrals and fashion colors I’m sharing photos of me wearing their Forever Flat — and I have to say, they really do have that elusive combination of comfort, quality, and modern-but-classic style. If you’ve struggled with shoe comfort, width issues, bunions, difficult feet, or simply finding shoes that feel good and still look chic, this brand may be worth a look.
