On a Tuesday evening in Iceland, six family members across three generations are at a waterfront jazz festival in Reykjavik. The music is playing, local art is on display, harbor views, and the whole city out for the night. Eighteen hours later, they're in a private helicopter heading north. The next stop is a glacier. |

THIS IS WHAT MULTI-GENERATIONAL TRAVEL ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE. |
It's one of the most popular trips I'm seeing this summer, and it's also the one most likely to go sideways if you just try to wing it and throw it all together with a spreadsheet (we've all tried it!) Three generations, six people…each with their own idea of what they want out of a trip. The grandparents wanted arts, beauty, and culture. The kids wanted volcanos (so cool!), snowmobiles, and dogsledding. The parents wanted something in between, with enough downtime to actually enjoy the fact that they were all together in Iceland. My job was to take all of that into account so during the trip not a single person felt like they were just along for the ride. This family, is so much fun to work with. All three generations will land on Langjökull glacier by helicopter and ride out across it together, on snowmobiles. Grandparents aren't sitting on the sidelines, they are ready to join in on the fun and create some amazing memories with their family. From a Tuesday night Jazz Fest to a Wednesday morning adrenaline run, we're not leaving any stone unturned. |

Every accommodation was chosen specifically because it gave the group room to exist separately when they needed to. A suite with two bedrooms. A private retreat with individual houses and their own geothermal pools. A spa property where Grandmother and Son could occupy completely different corners of the experience at the same time. Nobody stacked on top of each other. Nobody waiting on someone else to be ready. The rest of the week will run the same way. A private cooking class built around Icelandic specialties. The kids adventurous enough to try smoked lamb without hesitation, which any parent would consider a triumph. A husky cart adventure because iceland isn't actually covered with ice year round. A South Coast day with glacier hiking and black sand beaches. We are checking some of the major attractions but all of it was curated specifically to what the family wants. |
THE DESTINATION IS NEVER THE HARD PART. BUILDING AN ITINERARY WHERE THREE GENERATIONS ALL HAVE THE BEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES, ON THE SAME DAY — THAT'S THE WORK. |
If you've been sitting on a multi-generational trip idea, summer 2026 still has some runway. The destinations that work best for this kind of travel aren't always the ones you'd expect. Iceland. Switzerland. Portugal. Northern Spain. If you want to think through what makes sense for your group, I'm here. |
