Before we get started this week, let's take a moment to think of the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to fight for and protect our freedom in America.

We honor your service.

Welcome back to Beyond the Tour, where twice a month you’ll get clear, practical enrollment strategies you can put to work this week.

Let's get started.

If You Do One Thing This Week:

1. 💬 Talk to your colleagues.

Before everyone leaves for the summer, talk to your faculty friends about the application that you have been using all year.

Get their input.
✅ Does the applications ask what they wish it asked?
✅ Is there anything they would expect to be included that isnt included?
✅ How can we best get to know the students they ultimately find in their classrooms?

You can do this by:
Organizing conversations during the week,
Inviting them to your office for a casual chat,
Go on a walking meeting with them,
Talk with them while helping them clean their classrooms,
Etc.

Bottom line: Make it easy for them to meet with you. And make it helpful for you to get their input.

Try it. Let me know how it goes.

2 Tips to DO MORE:

2. 📚 Summer read with your team.

Do a summer book club with your team. (And if you are a team of 1, find a colleague who works over the summer, and read a book with them). This is a great way to think beyond the office day-to-day and establish shared language heading into next year.

How to get started?
1. Decide on what book you want to read. (Don't overthink it. Whatever you choose will be fine.)
2. Establish a manageable reading schedule, and
3. Set a 15 minute meeting with each other and discuss “How can we apply ideas from this chapter to our work?”

Bam. It's that easy. I promise you will grow professional if you do this.

These are a few of my favorite work-related books. I am always reading and updating this page, and I encourage you to watch this space for updates.

Right now, I am reading Beyond High Performance by Jason Jaggard, and I am loving it.

3. 👏🏼 Breathe. And tidy up.

Slower days and a slower pace are on the horizon. It's ok to breathe, clean your office, and organize your files.

Set a timer and do this for 15 minutes per day.
Small actions make a big difference. Just get started.
