A listing received an accepted contract Friday evening. Everyone was excited, signatures were in, and the deal was officially together. 🎉
But instead of updating the MLS status, the property stayed marked as Active all weekend.
Why?
Because the agent still wanted to collect backup offers and keep the showing traffic going “just in case.” 😅
Here’s where that becomes a problem.
If a property is under contract, the MLS status needs to accurately reflect the current status of the property within the required MLS timelines. Leaving a property Active after acceptance can create misleading information for buyers, agents, appraisers, and the public.
And let’s be honest…nothing irritates another agent faster than scheduling a showing on an “Active” property only to hear:
“Oh…we actually accepted an offer two days ago.”
That’s usually followed by silence…followed by an MLS complaint. 👀
