Most stitchers understand a simple truth: every project tells a story. We have big plans for our projects - but life doesn't always cooperate with our plans. Sometimes illness intervenes. Sometimes age and disability make it impossible to continue. And sometimes a maker passes away before the final stitch is sewn.

 

That's why I was so excited to learn about The Loose Ends Project from my friend Vickie. The Loose Ends Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 2023 by Masey Kaplan and Jennifer Simonic. Their mission is beautifully simple: connect unfinished textile projects with skilled volunteers who can help complete them …

 

On the 4th of July, Quiltblox will host an online quilt show featuring patriotic quilts shared by readers and fellow quilters from across the country. And I would absolutely love for you to participate.

 

Whether your patriotic quilt is traditional, modern, scrappy, or vintage-inspired, a wall hanging, table topper, table runner, bed quilt, pillow, received as a gift or an award, or even a treasured family heirloom … It all counts. Send me a picture and tell me something about your quilt (who made it and why), and the name of the pattern if you used a commercial pattern. Have more than one? Perfect - send me as many as you'd like, and I'll include them.
