Hi First name / friend! When clients call me about their next beach trip, the shortlist usually goes: Caribbean, Mexico, North Africa, Europe. All super solid. But there’s a destination that belongs on yours, and I’ve been a little obsessed with it lately. Brazil. I grew up on the white dunes of Florida, spent years in the turquoise waters of Mexico and the Caribbean, and built a business around expertise in coastal destinations. In short, I’m a snob — my Brazilian colleagues are even worse — so when I tell you the coastal towns here are worth your time, I mean it. Here’s how I think about a few beach destinations in Brazil and what type of traveler loves each one. |

BRAZIL Trancoso is a cobblestoned village above exceptional beaches, Praia do Espelho and Praia dos Nativos among them, where Brazil’s fashion, art, and design crowd retreats. Good restaurants, boutiques, kitesurfing, slow beach days. If barefoot luxury was invented anywhere, it could definitely have been here…with a lot of color and soul to go with it. UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa is a collection of soulfully restored casas that match the town’s pace. Just south, Fasano Trancoso and Pousada Tutabel are well worth a look. Santa Catarina’s Emerald Coast is a different Brazil entirely. No high-rise sprawl, no scene. The adults-only Awasi Santa Catarina places 25 private cabanas across a lush coastal landscape. Guided excursions, wellness, deep access to nature. Lazy days work here, but you’ll want to explore. Kenoa Resort sits on a remote stretch of Brazil’s northeast Alagoas coast where the Atlantic meets a protected natural reserve. Nine keys, private plunge pools, jungle canopy and sea in the same view. For landing, flopping, and having no need of an agenda. Emiliano Rio sits directly above Copacabana — the beach that functions as neighborhood, gathering place, and in-real-life theatre all at once. A sculptural tower above Avenida Atlântica, floor-to-ceiling ocean views. Where first-timers to Rio and seasoned returners both happily end up. |

HOW TO BUILD THE TRIP Single-destination beach trip? More doable than you think, even from North America or Europe. A week works, and east coasters plus Western Europeans will barely notice the time zone. Or head down for two weeks and go deeper: jaguars on safari, Iguazu Falls, the Amazon, Lencois Maranhenses, Rio, São Paulo. End on the beach. For families especially, this is the country to explore right now. We’re actively planning Brazil for fall 2026 and spring 2027. A festive end-of-year trip is doable, but December availability is minimal. Nine to twelve months of lead time is the norm. Nonstop flights to São Paulo and Rio: New York ~10 hrs Miami ~9 hrs Dallas ~9 hrs Los Angeles ~14 hrs London ~11 hrs Madrid ~9 hrs Mexico City ~9 hrs |
