Good morning, my friend! Go get that cup of coffee and let's catch up! If it's nice where you are, go out to the porch and sit a spell!
I got so tickled last week to receive DOZENS of emails asking me to confirm how many kids I have! Haha!! Between sending out an old recipe where I must have referred to one of them by a different nickname and posting the picture of all the kids on vacation, I must have caused some confusion!
Well, I have three children (not 4 or 10)!
The oldest, Big Girl, is my stepdaughter but we've been together since she was three so we're very close and I count her among my own. She loves me and I love her. She tells people, “I've got my mama, my daddy and my Mandy” and I am so thankful for her! She is a pistol! She is fierce, protective, loyal and a mother hen to us all. She's the one who got married this past year and just got her Masters (I shared the photo not too long ago).
Next came Baby Girl, who's our middle child and my first natural-born baby. Baby Girl is my world explorer (went to the University of Edinburgh last year and it liked to killed me) and the smartest one of us all! She is my little peace-maker (probably a middle child trait) and more introverted (no idea where that came from) but she has a quiet confidence that should never be underestimated! She'll be a senior in college this Fall and wants to pursue a PhD in biochemistry or genetics next (though you'll have to join me in praying that funding for education and research doesn't keep getting cut for her to realize that dream).
Then there's The Boy. My baby and my only son. If you're a Boy Mom, you know how special he is to me! He plays baseball for a small college in NC and he is my heart! He never meets a stranger, is quick to try to make someone smile, has a tender heart and loves BIG. He has a head for business so he may be helping me run this show someday! At least behind the scenes - he is domestically challenged (100% my fault). His roommate facetimed me their freshman year from the laundry room to tell on him for washing his clothes without detergent! He said, “Tell her what you did!!” haha!
No nicknames have come to me for my son-in-law, which is good because he'd probably hate them because he is so shy! He is the sweetest thing in the world and I adore him. He loves our girl with a devotion that lets me know, whatever life throws at them, they will be OK.
