A NEWSLETTER FROM NANCY ORLEN WEBER VOLUME 106, June 8, 2026
👉 Pre-orders are now open for Nancy’s first picture storybook—a luminous story that has already touched hearts of all ages. While written for ages 8 and up, adults are calling it a gentle reminder of hope, resilience, and the beauty still alive in the world. It’s a story to be shared, read aloud, or quietly experienced… no matter your age.
Back in 1984, my friend Elaine Silver, a folk singer, found herself restless with her usual songs. We took a dozen of my poems and transformed them into lyrics and music, her voice breathing new life into my words. Inspired, I felt a pull toward a new creative adventure. Two of the songs “Sister Moon, Brother Sun” and “Stormwinds At Her Door” are on Spotify.
The only drawing I had ever been proud of was from eighth grade: a dream home made of three geodesic domes, joined by glass tubes, a vision I still cherish. Yet, my attempts at art usually ended with torn paper and frustration. Determined, I set out to truly learn how to draw.
Entering Barnes & Noble’s, I walked to the art selection. Several aisles of books stared at me. An opportunity to practice a mental technique I made up: I would tell my body to turn on the switch to find a particular book that will help me draw. As a nurse, I knew that we were electromagnetic. The EKGs, EEGs, and EMGs dealt with the brain, the heart, and the nerves to the muscles. I figured that should do it. If I can find missing people and animals at a distance, I figured I could certainly find a book for myself or one that would be perfect for me. Slowly walking until one aisle felt like "pick me”.
A third of the way down the aisle, I stopped. Like a film director, I decided to teach my body to accept my directions and find anything that is missing, or, like that day, find the correct book I need. The shelves on the left felt like I was drawn to them, closing my eyes, standing there, hoping nobody would laugh, and lifting my arm until it didn't want to be lifted any further, and my fingers pointed. I opened my eyes and followed the fingers, and there was the book.
"Drawing with the Right Side of the Brain” by Betty Edwards was in my hands. Excited, laughing, knowing I have loved working with bi-hemispheric techniques for decades. Dr. Gilbert A. Preston, my first husband, worked on split-brain studies with Ronald Myerson, an associate of Dr. Roger Sperry, who won the Nobel Prize in science on split brain research. As I glanced at the book, I read that she thanked Ronald for his help. That confirmed it The book came home with me. Every night at 10 o'clock for months, I opened a sketchbook and pencils. Three months later, following some of the instructions, I drew a scene. I switched to a fine-point black ink, eagerly drawing whatever was asking to be filled on the pages.
During COVID, my husband scanned about 300 of my drawings. One of them caught my attention, so I named her Milagros. I drew her in the early 1990s. In February 2026, I painted her using Procreate on my iPad. I kept looking at her, unsure what to do next. Then, a story suddenly came to me, fully formed. For the first time, I felt real joy while writing. I even laughed out loud at the ending. It was exactly what I had hoped for. I love mysteries, especially when there is a twist at the end, and my first juvenile through adult picture story book finishes with a sweet surprise.
Using some of these paintings as cards and for my journal, Whispers of the Dream Bird, and now Milagros and The Golden Light, is exciting. It's not how many people like it or don't, or how many people buy any of it or don't. There is joy in using our creative discoveries. If someone asked me decades ago, "If you could draw, would your style be bold? " I would've said yes, I think so. However, most of it is more delicate. And once in a while, bold and strong. What creative process would you love to dive into and know that the discoveries are discoveries about your soul's journey from light to form?”
Warmly,
Nancy

Creation often arrives in unexpected ways. Sometimes it appears as a gentle nudge toward a bookstore aisle, a book seemingly waiting for us, a drawing that later becomes a story, or an idea that quietly asks to be brought into the world. This week's story reminds us that creativity is not always something we chase. Often, it is something that finds us when we become willing to listen.
Brain Power supports those moments when inspiration seeks a pathway into form. Its aroma encourages mental focus while also reminding us that wisdom comes from more than logic alone. When we balance curiosity, intuition, and attention, we become partners with the creative process. The discoveries we make are often less about what we create and more about who we become while creating.
Diffuse: Diffuse while writing, sketching, journaling, studying, or working on a creative project.
Inhale: Place a drop in your palms, rub together gently, and inhale deeply before beginning a creative session.
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oil and apply to wrists, back of neck, temples (avoiding eyes), or bottoms of feet.
Ritual idea: Once placing a drop in your palms and inhaling the essential oil, spend a few moments reflecting on something you are ready to release. Offer it in prayer, write it in a journal, or simply place it in the hands of Spirit and trust that you are supported.
Soul Prompt (journaling):
What creative invitation has been quietly trying to get my attention
If I trusted the creative process completely, what would I begin today?
Affirmations:
I am open to inspiration in all its forms.
Creation flows through me with ease, trust, and joy.
