There’s a quiet softening that happens when the day winds down. The relentless summer heat breaks just in time for dinner, welcoming a stunning golden hour and the perfect excuse to take the evening outside. Suddenly, the formal dining room loses its charm ! Summer evenings are a quiet invitation to move outside, to slow down, and to linger. When it comes to dining al fresco, I like to throw out the traditional entertaining rulebook. This isn't about rigid formality, matching china or staging an Instagram worthy shot… it’s about creating a real, sensory escape. |

The Secret : Lean into relaxed tactile ease over crisp perfection |

THE LINENS Skip the iron. There is an effortless elegance to the wrinkled linen napkins paired with a bare wooden table or a simple runner. THE GREENERY Forgo the stiff, florist-delivered arrangements. Instead, forage your yard or the local market for unstructured branches, wild flowers, or even potted herbs like rosemary and basil that release an earthy scent as guests sit down. THE GLASS This is where the magic happens. I love using colored or smoke-tinted glassware that catches the low golden hour light. THE LIGHT Set the mood by layering taper candles or dim portable lanterns. THE SOUND Layering everything with a gently humming summer playlist is the perfect way to anchor the evening ! |

Here are a few of our favorite pieces currently inspiring our studio wishlists to capture this easygoing charm on a tablescape… |
AMBER TUMBLERS These give the water or evening cocktails a beautiful, sun-drenched glow even after the sun dips. |
THE FRAYED NAPKIN Pure, un-ironed texture that gets softer with every wash. It sets a perfectly imperfect foundation. |
RECHARGEABLE LAMPS No cords, no wind blowing out the flame. Just a soft, ambient glow you can move anywhere. |
STONEWARE Organic, heavy-edged plates that look like they were found in a boutique European market. |

For me, the best summer design isn't just about flawless aesthetics… it’s about creating an atmosphere that feels completely unpretentious. Especially as a designer, I know how hard it is not to succumb to the pressure social media brings to be the perfect hostess, executing a flawless tablescape every single time. But I've learned to lean away from that. Personally, I want to design for moments where strict table manners slip away… the kind of dinners where I'm free to sit cross-legged in my chair, laugh with my loved ones, and just breathe. That relaxed, unfiltered ease is what life is all about for me. Here’s to welcoming the second half of the year with a little less rush, deeper comfort, and easy nights around a casual table. Warmly, |
