Yesterday, the federal appeals court ruled Alabama’s gas execution method creates a “substantial risk of serious harm” and causes severe pain beyond death itself. This is a significant legal victory, one fueled by prayer, perseverance, and purpose. But our fight is not over.

 

We are calling for a stay of execution to allow the courts to complete their review of these serious constitutional flaws before Alabama carries out an irreversible punishment. 

 

Jeffery recorded a message in his own voice to thank everyone who has stood up for him, and in his words, "it's never over with unless you give up." We are not giving up. With the days we have left, we fight harder: every call, every voice, every person who shows up matters. Hear him, then join us.

Thirty supporters gathered on the capitol steps. Senator Robert Stewart, Esther Brown of Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty, and Abe Bonowitz of Death Penalty Action spoke in support of Jeffery Lee. The people have made their voices heard.
