Happy Sunday Everyone! This week I want to talk about self-sabotaging your own happiness. Does this sound familiar? Many people do this without being aware they are doing it. So, why do we self-sabotage?
 
According to Psychology Today “self-sabotage means getting in your own way. It happens when you consciously want something—like a promotion, a healthy relationship, or a fitness goal—but your actions, such as procrastinating or pushing people away, consistently undermine your success. It is typically driven by an underlying fear of failure, fear of success, or a need for control."
 
Lately I have had quite a few clients struggling with happiness and the not feeling deserving of happiness and success. Because of these feelings they have a pattern of self-sabotaging, however when things fall apart they look for an outside source for the reason rather than looking inward.
 
This week I want to challenge you to look at what is really holding you back? What ways are you self-sabotaging your life and happiness? My clients when asked these questions would normally answer at first “it's not my fault nothing works out for me, it's just not to be.” That my friends is a copout. 
 
The real answer is YOU and your false beliefs are holding you back. This week I have an exercise for you to do if you are so inclined. I want you to make your own misery list. As I mentioned previously I did this over 10 years ago and it changed my life and perspective for it showed me the only one standing in my way of the life and happiness I desired was me. 
 
Please note if you do this you will become accountable for your own life and your own happiness. And this leads to freedom and peace.
 
I want you to list anything you aren't happy about yourself and your life even if it seems like a small thing like eye color. Then I want you to honestly look over that list - how many items on there do you have the ability to change, be honest and highlight those items. How many items did you not highlight and do not have the power to change? Be completely honest. Note that this exercise could trigger some fears as you realize what you exactly can change. It's ok.
 
You may just discover that YOU are your own road block and it may be time to make the changes so you can live more authentically and by living more authentically you are guaranteed to be more happy.
 
May you all find the life you truly deserve and find out just how powerful you are to manifest your best life only if you believe you deserve it and I know you do!
