Hi First name / Quilty Friend,

In this edition: Calculating Quilt Border Proportions, Send in Your Patriotic Quilt Pictures, and a few of my favorite quilty treasures.

Make the quilt borders too narrow, and the quilt can feel cramped. Too wide, and the borders may overwhelm the design. Add multiple borders, and the challenge becomes even greater. While there is no single "correct" answer, we quilters have long used a few design principles to help create borders that feel balanced and visually pleasing.

Welcome to the First Quiltblox Online Patriotic Quilt Show!

On the 4th of July, I will host an online quilt show featuring patriotic quilts shared by readers and fellow quilters from across the country. And I would absolutely love for you to participate.

Please send me a picture, and tell me about your quilt (who made it and why), and the name of the pattern if you used a commercial pattern. Have more than one? Perfect - send me as many as you'd like, and I'll include them. Please send your pictures to me by June 26.
