Whenever I used to travel to new places, I would come home overflowing with inspiration.
But over the past couple of years, this has changed. I do not (yet) have the answer why, but maybe it's because we all have access to the same inspiration, maybe it's social media, or maybe it's the speed at which we live.
Maybe it's because we're increasingly skipping one of the most exciting, but sometimes time-consuming, parts of creating: the creative process itself. The part where you explore ideas, where you follow curiosity and intuition instead of trends, where you make something unexpected, something that doesn't yet exist.
Today, it's easier than ever to ask AI to generate something, but AI can only build from what already exists. It can combine, remix and reinterpret. It cannot replace your imagination, your experiences or the ideas that only you would come up with.
On the other hand, this makes me believe that now is a more exciting time than ever to share your unique, creative, unexpected, illogical, but beautiful ideas. Because in a time of sameness, newness will stand out. I'm not saying it will be easy, but I do believe it will be worth it.
