The Founder’s Edit - Edition 10
Your Regular(ish) Dose of Balance, Inspiration and Aligned Action

Hi First name / lovely,

It's been a full-on month! Client projects have been coming in thick and fast (which I am absolutely not complaining about) but can I just say, does anyone else take on a little too much because some voice in the back of your head says "what if it dries up later in the year?" No? Just me? I feel like it's not just me.

So yes, the juggle to keep on top of all the marketing things at the same time has been very real. But I'm here, I'm doing it, and I've also somehow managed to get outside running most days… mostly in wind and rain down here in Devon, which has been less about jogging and more a test of actual character.

Aside from all the busyness: I'm noticing a shift. The people coming to me right now aren't dipping their toes in, they're ready. Ready to stop second-guessing themselves and actually go after what they've been dreaming of. A new chapter, properly started. I find that so energising to be part of.

Anyway. Here's your latest edition! I hope something in here gives you a little something this week…

Lunch time breaks

Now, let's get this straight… I don't have this nailed. I'm very guilty of quickly grabbing some leftovers and heading straight back to my desk (despite having "Lunch & Walk" in my calendar every day), however on the days when I do take a proper break, I come back feeling re-energised, maybe clearer on something that wasn't quite working…

This is very much a hangover from my corporate days (where often I had to work through a lunch break just to keep up) so it's been a tough habit to break, but I'm getting there.

Okay, this crazy weather we've had these past few weeks hasn't helped with my motivation but even ten minutes away from the screen counts, and makes a difference! Your inbox will survive without you. I promise.

what does success actually mean for you?

I don't know about you but I feel like the internet is noisier than ever with content around what we (apparently) should and shouldn't be doing in our businesses.

I'm all for taking advice from experts when it's needed, however there's a fine line between sticking to what feels good and true for you and getting lost in everyone else's opinions.

Right now it's very easy to fall into the trap of adopting other people's approaches as a quick route to "success" but my question for you is: what does that actually look like for you?

(That phrase — "what does success look like for you?" — used to get thrown around a lot in my corporate days and I always thought it was a load of office waffle — but now I understand what it really means on a personal level.)

Anyway, back to the point:
  • What do you want a perfect day, week and year to look like?
  • What do you want to be doing? How much time on work vs. going to Pilates, going for a walk, coffee with a friend, taking time out of your business for travelling?
  • What does the actual work look like? How many hours do you want to be working? And how much do you want to be earning?

It was only last year that I actually sat down and figured some of this stuff out, only to realise I hadn't really structured my business in a way that supported the lifestyle I wanted. It's definitely worth carving out a minute (okay, maybe an hour) to go through and ask yourself these questions to see what's adding up, and what's not!

LOVE LIST

A few things I've been loving this last month…

📺 Rivals
A dear friend told me about this show (plus I'd seen a few people mention it online too) and I needed something new to tune into while Adam was on tour, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Wellll, I'm so glad I did. It's a brilliant mix of incredible characters, beautiful retro music, outfits and cars, PLUS some really raunchy moments too! Ha. If you've not checked it out yet, I'd go take a look…

🎤 Harry Styles
Is it wrong to admit this as a 43-year-old woman? I dunno, but I'm just going to put it out there. I'd always wondered what the fuss was about until maybe the last month or so, when I actually caught myself quite enjoying some of his songs. Then I found out he's a runner, so he scored some extra points.

Now my IG algorithm is feeding me clips of him on tour and I've maybe become a fan…?

📵 Screen time — a cheap plastic box
There's been a fair bit of chat online about bricks and app blockers to help people get offline, stop getting distracted and be more present.

I was tempted. I already use an app blocker but this seemed like the next level.

Anyway, while I was out running some errands I came across a cheap plastic box and thought "maybe that'll work." And you know what — IT DOES. When I'm at my desk trying to really focus on a project, I just throw my phone in there and pop it out of the way. Even just not having it visible is enough to break my habit of checking things that don't need checking!

📅 Good Tuesday wall planner
With Adam away quite a lot on tour and me being unable to function without some kind of plan (it drives him a bit mad that I like to plan EVERYTHING) — I bought us a 2026 year planner from Good Tuesday to help me visualise what's going on and coming up.

I also grabbed some stickers to go with it, which were giving me Funfax vibes (IYKYK), and I must admit I rather enjoyed going through the year and writing / sticking things on!

A bit of honesty

Lately I've been sharing things that are a bit more raw and vulnerable, and the response has been so reassuring and positive. I guess I thought if I shared the not-so-great side of things, people might not want to work with me. But I couldn't have been more wrong!

I shared something last week about my losses and it got such a lovely response from everyone! Click here to see the post

So if you've been sitting on something a bit more honest… this is your sign to go post it.
Good to chat!
Let me know what's doing it for you (or not) this month, I always love hearing from you.
