Dear First name / friend, Summertime has now begun in earnest, after many changeable features of the springtime climate in this northern hemisphere. So, now is the time to incorporate a cooling food and lifestyle program. Here are the Food Guidelines from Dr. Lad: www.ayurveda.com. Copy the six pages and consult the Pitta-pacifying central column of positive food choices for the hot season in the coming months, and avoid the aggravating food items. Of course, if your Prakruti is more Vata or Kapha, you also will choose food items common to both. Important general guidelines include having the main meal at lunchtime, being active during the cooler parts of the day, and avoiding daytime sleep to help preserve sound sleep at night. Favour foods that are sweet, astringent and bitter to help keep the body’s PH more alkaline, giving special importance to hydration with alkaline water. |
|
Some preventable heat-related diseases common in summertime include: diarrhea, rash, hives, insect bites, migraine, eyestrain, styes, blepharitis, glossitis, otitis media, sunburn, heatstroke, pericarditis, sprue (chronic malabsorption), boils, fungal infections, and, indeed, many types of spreading infections. Summer weather can also bring aggravation and complications of long-standing Pitta disorders. Ayurveda is still best for prevention and management, due to the great advantage of no side effects from natural medicinal plant substances, and observation of the sometimes subtle law of cause and effect, I feel. For the coming hot season, with wildfires, heat waves and unexpected eruptions, always go back to the wisdom of Ayurveda for keeping your body and mind cool, calm and collected. Avoid heated discussions, opinions and decisions. Fall will be a better time for making lasting decisions. This overheating phase will be temporary |
|
Summertime is so good for continuing education. For example, last summer, I took a specialty study in the management of Jwara, the inflammatory reaction or ‘fever’. It was a 12-week deep dive into the very detailed psycho-pathology of Pitta disorders, and their management strategies. Previously in 2024, I took a specialty in Cancer Management According to Ayurveda, from the highly respected Aashirwad Health & Education Trust. Their online courses are conveniently scheduled for Saturdays at 7-9 am Pacific time, and provide NAMA-approved postgraduate studies. Please scroll down for more information below about the sponsor, the Aashirwad Health & Education Trust, and their most excellent continuing education offerings. This summer school program is most excellent, and likely as well planned and delivered as prior specialties I’ve taken. The topic for summer school 2026 is Rajayakshma, or Chronic Debility. |

Life is a constant cycle of learning, observing, deciding and following through. Ayurveda learning opportunities are presented here for your interest. Please share the following golden opportunities with friends, family, and colleagues. |

Consultations and Follow-Ups |
|
Nowadays, I seem to see more and more complex diseases in my clinical consultation practise, perhaps given my recent post-graduate studies in Cancer Management and Inflammatory Diseases. Chronic diseases are best managed by Ayurveda, I feel, whereas acute emergencies continue to be better managed by Western modern medicine. Yes, I still see people in my home office in Surrey, BC, where Pulse Assessment is feasible, and by Zoom, when people are at a distance and cannot travel for in-person care. Appointments are made by phone at 604-290-8201, and preparation is done according to www.ayurveda-seminars.com. To book your follow-up or initial consultation, please review the Consultation page of my website. Summertime is excellent for implementing your Ayurveda food and lifestyle program to help make seasonal adjustments and maintain your gains from seasonal cleansing experiences. |

Ayurveda as Future Medicine for Global Health |
|
Now we are in a time of integrative medicine, as recommended by an increasing number of physicians who practice both the modern chemical-based system and ancient Ayurveda holistic science. Both have their right place, as does Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Tibetan medicine and many more approaches to wellness, I feel. Collaborating makes sense to me for the benefit of the suffering patient. What are your thoughts on the future of Integration of modern medicine and ancient, time-proven Ayurveda? Please complete this Survey: - How do you visualize Integrative Medicine in Canada?
- What is most important for you personally in healthcare?
- Are you currently paying for healthcare services and medicines outside government provisions?
- What does Preventative Lifestyle Medicine mean to you?
Thanks for taking the time to answer in as much detail as you like by replying to me at jaisri@ayurveda-seminars.com with your thoughts and feelings regarding this important discussion. Your opinions matter! |

This is a vast repertoire of proven in-depth techniques for matching the holistic needs. Why enroll now? Now is the time to convey this amazing overview of hands-on healing protocols, after not being available for many years. Turiya Therapy is specialized for healing the energetic body through marma, meridian, chakra and direction. We’ll explore the Invisible Anatomy ™ through the lens of the electromagnetic field permeating and emanating from each human being, especially for psycho-emotional healing of trauma and unresolved emotional experiences. You will learn the complete Level I General Session and Level II Balancing the Doshas in Turiya Therapy, a group of protocols to empower you in professional development for starting or enhancing your hands-on healing practice. Still-point strategies carry immense power of introversion and self-discovery. Stillness and Movement Stillness is a prerequisite for the meditative mind to reach into the subtle origins of psycho- spiritual causes of symptoms or disease. Our focus will be on the mystical logic of Ayurveda to help with mental health and wellness. The more I studied the parent science of Ayurveda, the more its ancient knowledge seeped into my clinical practice over the decades. So, during the nineties, Dr. Lad suggested I change the name of the bodywork science I was developing to Turiya Therapy, to denote the transcendent experience of the evolving ‘pre-meditative’ healing science, presented now. Though I've been teaching this program for several decades, my age of 78 may now prevent me from offering this program again. However, in 2027, I feel guided to offer Level III: Balancing the Sub-Doshas for those who have taken and are using the previous trainings. Prerequisites: Stamina, Interest in Holistic Health for Self-Healing These introductory classes do not require knowledge of Ayurveda, though you will learn some Sanskrit terminology to help you understand the depth of action of Turiya Therapy. These in-person trainings are best learned with the originator and developer, to have first-hand contact, as a traditional Guru Kula style learning experience. The value and benefit of coming in person is to gain directly from my over 35 years of livelihood experience internationally with these techniques and theories, now timely proven to free the individual from inner sufferings and misunderstandings, including assumptions, core beliefs and outdated self-statements. Emphasis is on the oral tradition. Program Content We’ll learn the names of important Marmani of the anterior, posterior and head, the importance of the Bij sounds for healing each chakra latitude and their corresponding organs/functions. We’ll also learn the importance of circular breathing for healing the pranic bridge between body, mind and consciousness. Level 2 introduces the basic balancing protocols for each of the important Doshic expressions of Vata, Pitta & Kapha. TURIYA IS PURE CONSCIOUSNESS: “Turiya” is the non-dual, unconditioned consciousness or pure consciousness. It is the Atman. As it is "unconditioned consciousness," it is Nirguna Brahman, which is also referred to as the Parabrahman (Pure Light). That is our spiritual kernel.” - |

For summer school 2025, I took their excellent online program on Jwara, or the Inflammatory reaction, the root cause of all Pitta diseases and diseases involving inflammation. It was such a well-structured and well-delivered program. I highly recommend these programs, which are eligible for NAMA PACE credits. For summer school 2024, I took their powerful and enlightening program on Cancer According to Ayurveda, with great benefit to my clinical consultation practice. The course was thorough, detailed, delivered by very talented, knowledgeable and outstanding clinicians. I highly recommend the tapes, available on request, containing a treasure house of knowledge and expertise, not seen in any other programs I’ve encountered.
