Issue #67 | June 22, 2026

Welcome back to Beyond the Tour, where twice a month you’ll get clear, practical enrollment strategies you can put to work this week.

Just about every school is on Summer break (with just a few exceptions who are wrapping up this week. Hang in there, Vancouver!). No matter what, it's the perfect time to get into those summer projects.

Let's get started.

If You Do One Thing This Week:

1. 📋 Create a checklist for student visits

This summer, create a document for yourself that lists all of the action items you would do to plan a visit so that you don't have to recreate the wheel each time you have a visitor.

Include elements like:
  • Match visitors with host;
  • Email the host buddy and confirm;
  • Inform school administrators;
  • Send parents and students “What to expect on your visit day” information;
  • Etc.
  • Etc.
Creating this checklist once over the summer will save you so much time during the year. It will probably also mean a better visit for your prospective students and a better experience for your own students and faculty internally.

I love a good win-win.

Try it. Let me know how it goes.

2 Tips to DO MORE:

2. Review your Inquiry Form

Take a good look at your Inquiry form and what information you ask parents to submit on the website.

For each item you ask for, ask yourselves “How does this help us in the admission process?”

You may not need vaccination information up front. (You may, and if you do, that's fine. But test the theory, please.)

I promise you'll get the information you really do need when the time is right.

But first, make that first touchpoint as lean as possibe to lower the barrier for families to take that first step to inquiry and share their interest with you.

3. 💬 Sharing is caring

Heres a tip for partnering with other teams internally:
Connect with your Development or Advancement department to share which of the newly enrolled families should be on their radar.

It's not all about money. All parents are able to donate to the school of their time, treasure or talent. It's helpful for Admission + Development + Marketing to know where each parent can help the school.

Don't be shy about this - it will help your school in the long term.
This is a meeting that should be on your calendar every summer.

ON THE ROAD
🌵 I AM AT THE AISAP ANNUAL INSTITUTE THIS WEEK!! 🌵

Let me know if you're here in New Mexico where the weather is hot and the ideas are on fire.

I'll be teaching twice this week:
  • Turning Board Members into Enrollment Champions on Wednesday
  • Build a Burnout Free Team on Thursday
If you're here, I'd love to meet up. Coffee on me.
