If I could describe in a single sentence what my business Rewrite does, it’s rewriting stories from the inside-out. This episode is the essence of ALL of the work that I do. I make a case for rewriting our stories from the inside out, and then I outline how to do it – starting with your inside story (getting to know yourself and knowing what you want) and then moving through to your outside story (connecting to others and creating what you need). I’ve spent years working in this space but it has only been this year that I’ve really been able to articulate so clearly that the fundamental challenge I see in my clients (and myself) is when there is a gap between who we really are (on the inside) and how we show up on the outside. The bigger the gap, the bigger the cost. If you feel like the gap between those two parts or stories has become too great, do have a listen to the episode. It’s highly practical, includes a mini literature review so you can get a handle on the evidentiary basis for this experience, and (as with all episodes this season) includes a set of Self Coaching Questions so you can directly apply it to your own work and life. |

In other news this month, I’ve created a new book club for my private membership The Rewriters Community. If you’ve received The Rewrite newsletter for a while now, you may recall that one of the things that inspired me to create The Rewriters Community in the first place was my IRL book club - where a group of local women gather in my front room each quarter to discuss what we loved, loathed and learnt from that quarter's book. The Rewriters Community bookclub follows a similar format with a few tweaks - we read exclusively non-fiction around the theme of rewriting how we work, live (and lead) and then gather in my virtual front room (Zoom :)) each quarter with a cuppa for a facilitated discussion about our recent read. Our first book, nominated by one of our members, is Strong Ground by Brené Brown, and our first club will be coming up this September. |

Last week, The Rewriters Community also enjoyed a special members event where we learned about the science and benefits of breathwork with yoga and breathwork practitioner Sally Connor, my former EY pal. She also taught us some practices to use breath to create more energy or calm ourselves down. If you’re craving a slower approach to career change, something that gives you the time and space to figure out what you want, what you need and how best to build it, we would love to welcome you into The Rewriters Community. The Rewriters Community is my private membership for high-ambition, high-empathy professional women transforming how they work and live – on their terms and at their pace. This is a very high touch, high connection space, you will get to know your fellow members personally and benefit from everyone's wisdom and experiences. In addition to special members events and our new book club, membership also includes workshops, monthly accountability sessions, weekly accountability check-ins, quarterly 1:1 private coaching interventions with me, access to a catalogue of resources and an online community hub where you can access Sally’s breathwork session recording (and much more). |
