Our Mini Silva Vocal has been such a hit, we decided to do it again!

Contained within an arch-topped panel, a two-handled, Italianate-style urn displays a bouquet of symmetrically arranged tulips against a dark blue field.

Henry C. Mercer originally created this special mosaic design in the summer of 1922 for a private residence located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Our newly released, portable version, faithful to Mercer's actual drawing and plaster production mold housed in our historic collections, is a reduction of the original 36" x 28" mosaic.

At 8¼" x 6⅜", this tile would make a beautiful focal point for your fireplace façade or kitchen backsplash.

BLUEGRASS

In June and July, we hosted two Bluegrass at TileWorks concerts in the courtyard. This year, three bands played for four hours of traditional, roots, and newgrass music. The talent includes many nationally acclaimed musicians like Jason Carter Band and The Price Sisters, as well as our local favorites including Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass, Joe Cirotti Quartet, and Full Steam.

The final show of the series will be September 27, 1-6 pm.

As seen in the right lobby of the Pennsylvania State Capitol. Mercer's own words about the original mosaic installed in 1903 read as follows:

"While the soldier, as seen in the mosaic, reads the Declaration of Independence, a statesman stands by him, typifying the rival claims of war and states craft to the founding of the nation, and the soldier's denial, that in the revolution of 1776, the pen was mightier than the sword.”

So who won the revolution? The statesman with his pen or the soldier with his sword?

This mosaic is made to order.

The TileWorks is hosting this year's annual Bucks County Punk Rock Flea Market! Bringing together a group of funky, vintage, DIY, and punk rock businesses for your shopping pleasures and enjoyment. There will be vendors, food, artists, ways to get politically active, and of course, some amazing bands rocking out. Join us on August 15 from 11 am to 5pm. All are welcome.

Take pause, and together we will make a paw print tile to celebrate your love fur your four-legged friends. Following in Rollo's footprints and in the tradition of Henry C. Mercer, we will capture your dog's forever footprint in a totally unique ceramic tile. We will glaze and fire your tile and let you know when your keepsake is ready for pickup. Join us August 26, or any Wednesday throughout the year, by signing up online for a half-hour appointment.

TileWorks is the home of the Bucks County Renaissance Faire for a weekend of magic, adventure, comedy & fun for the whole family. Be amazed by professional shows on the four stages throughout each day! Explore the artisan marketplace with dozens of craft vendors. Enjoy a meal from the delicious food vendors, or sit down for a hearty drink at the locally sourced pub. Interact with one of the many strange characters of the village as you wander throughout the day. Test your skill at archery, axe throwing, or dagger toss, or even battle a knight in one-on-one combat! All this awaits you and more!

At our Boneyard Sale, seconds, overruns, and slightly worn tiles will be offered at a once-a-year discounted price. Boneyard pre-sale on Friday Sept 18 from 11am-4pm is open to members for free, and to the public for a $10 fee.

From 1903-1906, Henry Mercer designed over 400 pictorial mosaics

tracing the history of the Commonwealth, from prehistoric times to 1906. These storytelling panels are intersperced in the 16,000 sq ft. field of Moravian pavers. This year, to celebrate PA 250, the TileWorks made re-issues of three mosaics commemorating the birth of our nation. The Liberty Bell, Reading the Declaration of Independence, and Washington Crossing the Delaware, can be seen on display on the

TileWorks tour.
