Seven Things
Inspiration, Eating, Listening, Reading, Watching, Making & Working
August 2026

New here? Read this first.
First name / Friend, the quiet didn’t last. LOL So, oops! I’m a week late on this letter…

Work has been ramping back up, the weather is hot, and the air has been chunky with wildfire smoke. As I expected. It's good I kept the N95s from the pandemic, they’ve been coming in quite handy. I am SO GLAD I didn’t plant a huge garden. Blessings on past me, you made good decisions.

So if you need me I’ll be here, checking the AQI, ticking the AC down another degree or two, and as ever, searching out those…
Small Moments of Joy
First, this ENTIRE list could be Red Sox moments.  Because HOLY SHIT.  I don’t even remember it all because I have blacked out in disbelief more than once over the last 6 magical weeks. I couldn’t feel my face for most of Win 15. Like WHAT?  How is this real life? Every joyful inning is a gift. We’ll be talking about this season for decades. This was a fave graphic (and LOL that these ridiculous stats are so outdated already)

Other moments:
And lastly, because helping brings joy, too, the Smitten Kitchen Classroom Wishlist Project could use a hand.

Here are the other Seven Things that are helping me keep my chin up these days.  I hope they help you, too, wherever and however you may be:

01 - Inspiration - Actual Color with a photo of the Celect shingle siding from Westlake Royal in a lovely light pink color
The latest color trend reports have started rolling in, and so far, very much yes on everything.  I love the Sherwin-Williams selections, especially the reasoning behind them.

02 - Eating - Tonkatsu & Salad with a photo of said meal on a lovely Japanese ceramic plate
With weeks of temps over 105 (UGH), there is absolutely no chance I’m turning the oven on.  So I’ve been searching out no-bake desserts, and this frozen key lime pie (using a pre-made crust) is just the ticket.

03 - Listening - The Isley Brothers with a cover of them from the early 70's in all their regalia
Been all over the map with music lately, but this little cover by Lilith Merlot stood out and is just so lovely.  (And is my belt it in the in the car without crying challenge song…)

04 - Reading - Heaven & Earth with an image of a windswept beach in winter
With all the Odyssey talk, it made me want to re-read Circe, but instead, I picked this story of 3 women of the same time off my TBR pile.  To be clear, if you haven't, you need to read Circe, but I'm enjoying this, too.

05 - Watching - The Muppets with an image of cast in the old school stage grid with multicolored lighting
The true answer here, is BASEBALL.  But I've also been loving this long running series from House & Garden UK lately.  I adore seeing how stylish people really live. These videos are my zen.

06 - Making - Seedlings with an image of very small sprouts in a seed tray
Been drawn to quick decor updates lately. So I took some leftovers from the wood scraps and craft box to dress up these cheap old frames.  I love this oxidation process instead of staining.

An image of my last exterior design project in the Poconos in winter
07 - Working - Poconos Renovation
I joke that the Marine industry is like the mob: you never truly get to leave….they always pull you back in.  I'm back in for an NDA protected project I can tell you nothing about!  But it’s been a nice little design break to work with old friends again during the slow summer season.
STILL DOING HOMES, THOUGH!
