Let's chat finances.

Whether you've been managing your own money since you landed your first part-time job, or coming to college is the first time you'll have to track and manage your finances, we have you covered! Not only does the orientation website have a dedicated page with important deadlines and resources, we've also put together a quick list of key tasks to make sure you stay on top of your student account this summer:

View your tuition bill. Your first tuition bill will be available to view in your UR Student account on Saturday, July 18. (See instructions for viewing your bill on our website.)

Grant others access to your financial account. If you need to give a family member access to your UR Student account to view or pay your tuition bill, you can also find instructions on how to do that on our website.

Keep an eye out from emails from Financial Aid. Periodically throughout the summer, the Financial Aid Office will reach out to you regarding your financial aid package. Please review and reply to these emails promptly, as additional information may be required from you or your family.

Attend the Student Employment Job Fair during Welcome Week. If getting an on-campus job is part of your plan to finance your education, make sure to attend the Job Fair during Welcome Week (exact date and time to be announced when the schedule launches in August). Representatives from across the University will be on-hand to share information about their department's employment opportunities.

Attend the optional financial aid essentials webinar on Tuesday, July 28 at 4 p.m. (EDT). Open to incoming students and their families, the Financial Aid Office staff will share important process deadlines and best practices for your years ahead at URochester. Unable to join live? The recording will be available a few days following the live event on our website.

Here's the scoop on textbooks.

UR Essentials, the University's textbook program in partnership with Barnes & Noble, ensures you receive all required textbooks and course materials before your first day of classes.

Instead of buying your textbooks separately, the cost for all required materials will now be covered through your tuition payment. Physical books will be bundled for easy pick-up and digital materials will be available through Blackboard.

After you register for classes in UR Student, Barnes & Noble will contact you at your URochester email address to confirm that your materials will be available for pick-up at the University bookstore in College Town.

Please note: If the Barnes & Noble email gives you the option to have the materials shipped directly to you at home, please make sure to select in-store pick-up instead, as the materials will likely be delivered after you've already left home for campus.

Don't miss these upcoming webinars!

The next two weeks are packed with required webinars for incoming students. Click each of the links below to get registered for each webinar in advance, and we'll send you the Zoom link to use at the live event time:
If you’re unable to watch any of these webinars live, you’re still required to watch the recordings before the end of the summer. Make sure to check the Webinars and Videos page on our website a few days after each event for links to each recording.

Make sure to register for Welcome Week.

Now that housing assigments are out and you've selected your move-in time slot, don't forget to register for Welcome Week! This form helps our team best plan for arrival days, as well as events and activities throughout Welcome Week.

If you're traveling to Rochester from an international location, you can also sign up for a dorm pack on the Welcome Week registration form. Each dorm pack costs $50 USD (billed directly to your student account) and includes a variety of linens to get you through your first few days on campus before you purchase linens locally.

Add these dates to your calendar.
We know there are a lot of dates to remember, so we'll include this section in each issue to highlight important upcoming event dates and deadlines from the new student checklist and timeline pages on our website.
