July 2026
The Shoreline Moment
When the Water Clears
Image item

There are moments at the shoreline when the water settles and everything becomes clearer. July has been that kind of month for Tidal Resilience. With a slower rhythm, we’ve been able to refine how families and partners find their way to us.

The mission feels steady, the pathways feel clearer, and the next wave of support is beginning to take shape. Quiet months often reveal what busy months can’t, and this one has helped us see our work with fresh perspective.

As we move past the halfway mark of 2026, we’re grateful for everyone who continues to walk alongside this mission. Your presence helps us keep building something steady and meaningful for grieving children and families.

We hope you, too, are finding moments of clarity in your own season — the kind that comes when the water calms, the shoreline steadies, and the next step becomes just a little easier to see.

Gratitude & Community Spotlight

This month, we are honored to spotlight Marianne, a warm heart and kind spirit who has supported Tidal Resilience from the very beginning. She and her husband have stepped in with encouragement, thoughtful conversations, and a willingness to help wherever needed. They volunteered at both the Spring Oyster Roast and the Waves of Hope 5K, offering the kind of behind the scenes care that keeps this mission moving forward.

Marianne also sponsored a Resilience Kit, helping another child receive comfort items and ocean themed resilience support. Her generosity reflects the quiet strength of our community and the people who believe in this work. We are deeply grateful for Marianne and for everyone who continues to lift Tidal Resilience with steady, heartfelt support.

Q: What inspired you to support Tidal Resilience Foundation?
Karen’s passion for helping others and her love of Nature and all things water hit home with me. Helping kids who have lost an important figure in their lives is definitely a hole that needs filling and Karen has started the movement.

Q: What part of Tidal Resilience Foundation's mission resonates most deeply with you?
I have 2 nieces that lost their dad and 3 other nieces recently lost their 21 year old sister
They are not here in Florida but if they were they would benefit from Tidal Resilience

Q: When you think about resilience, what does it mean to you and your family?
Our family has always found comfort from the water and the beach. The water is so healing

Q: What do you hope Tidal Resilience Foundation brings to families and youth in our community?
I hope it brings healing and joy and they can learn to be resilient like our friends from the sea.

Q: Is there anything you’d like others to know about why supporting this work matters?
The program has already started helping kids to feel like they are not alone and hopefully it can help many other kids heal and make new friends

Thank you, Marianne, for sharing your story and for supporting Tidal Resilience Foundation.

Community Connections
A look at what we are learning, listening to, and exploring this month
Each month, we will highlight a resource, story, or conversation that deepens our understanding of grief, resilience, or the ocean. These are the voices and ideas shaping the way we support families and build TRF’s programs.

This month, we’ve been spending time with stories that explore the many ways people move through grief and find their way back to connection. Fiction often gives us language for emotions that are hard to name, and these pieces remind us that healing rarely looks the same for any two people.

What We’re Reading & Watching:

Remarkably Bright Creatures
This story follows Tova, a woman quietly carrying grief, and Marcellus, an observant octopus who becomes an unexpected companion. Through their unlikely connection, the story explores how healing can come from places we never expect. It blends humor, tenderness, and the steady presence of the ocean in a way that feels deeply comforting.

Maine Characters
This novel brings together people navigating loss, identity, and the slow work of rebuilding a life after things fall apart. Set along lakes and coastal spaces, it shows how nature can hold grief gently and how community can help us find our footing again.

Voicemails for Isabelle
This film centers on a woman who leaves voicemails for her sister after her passing, capturing the ache of missing someone and the small rituals that help us stay connected. It’s a quiet, emotional story about love, memory, and the ways people keep talking to those they’ve lost.

Why It Resonates With Tidal Resilience Foundation

Each of these stories offers a different lens on resilience. They remind us that grief is not linear and that healing often happens in small, unexpected moments.

Remarkably Bright Creatures shows how connection can soften grief and how the ocean can be a companion in healing.

Maine Characters reflects the idea that a special place can steady us, offering quiet clarity when life feels heavy.

Voicemails for Isabelle honors the ways people stay connected to loved ones, even after loss, and how those rituals can help us move forward.

Together, these stories echo what we see in our work every day: Resilience grows through connection, gentle support, and the courage to keep reaching for hope, even when the path feels uncertain.

Resilience Kits
We continue to assemble and organize materials for upcoming Resilience Kit deliveries. Each kit offers tools for comfort, connection, and emotional support. Families can request a kit at any time, and community members can sponsor a kit to help us reach more children. Our goal is to distribute kits to schools across Northeast Florida at the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Remembrance & Resilience Community Wall
Our Remembrance and Resilience Community Wall is now live and open for submissions. This shared space invites families to honor loved ones and feel connected to others who are navigating loss. The wall already holds messages from our Waves of Hope 5K community, and it continues to grow into a meaningful extension of our mission.

Families are welcome to visit, read the reflections that have been shared, and add their own message whenever they feel ready.

Anchored in Purpose

The Tidal Resilience Foundation (TRF) is a Northeast Florida-based nonprofit dedicated to helping children and families navigate the complexities of grief through the grounding and healing power of the ocean.
By blending emotional support with movement, nature, and community connection, TRF provides safe, meaningful spaces for young people to process loss and build lifelong resilience.

Through its signature Resilience Weeks, Resilience Rides, and the Strength Beneath the Waves curriculum, the foundation partners with schools, counselors, and coastal businesses to ensure no child has to navigate life’s unsteady tides alone.
Rooted in lived experience and a deep belief in the power of community, TRF is committed to helping every young person rediscover the joy and strength that lives within them.
