Aloha from the stage!
From Brookline to Hawaii

This July marks a meaningful milestone for us, 29 years in business and 18 of them right here in Brookline. It's a good moment to take stock of what has kept the practice going, and if you ask Dr. Spitz, the answer is not the technology or the procedures. It is the patients, plain and simple.

That's why, when he was invited to speak in Hawaii last month to a group of dentists and the spouses who run their practices, he chose the topic that lights him up more than any other: patient relationships. He can speak to almost anything, from digital dentistry to prosthodontics to practice growth, but this is the subject he keeps coming back to.

The heart of what he taught was simple: how to ask better questions, how to really listen, and how to build the kind of trust that turns a first appointment into a decades-long relationship. Simple in theory, much harder to live out, day after day, for nearly three decades.

The reason he can teach this well is because he lives it. Every conversation in the operatory, every follow-up call, every patient who has been with us for 20 years and counting, they are the reason we get to celebrate 29 years at all.

Meet theTeam: Alexi

Alexi is the second Northeastern co-op student we have welcomed to Smileboston, and hosting co-ops has become one of the parts of this work we look forward to most. One of our core values here is simple, to always be learning, and having a bright, curious student in the office for six months keeps that spirit alive for all of us.

Alexi came to us with prior experience as a dental assistant, which meant she was ready to go deeper from day one. She took on more responsibility, assisted in complex prosthodontic and implant procedures, learned Exocad, designed her own crowns digitally, and printed them in our lab. "The amount I learned over six months," she told us, "is hard to put into words."

What stayed with her most was the patients. Because so many of you have been with us for years, she got to know them the way we do. "One of the things I admired most was watching Dr. Spitz interact with his patients," she shared. "He genuinely knows every single one of them, not just their dental history, but their families, careers, and what is going on in their lives. It showed me that great dentistry is about so much more than procedures."

She calls her co-op "one of the most meaningful experiences" of her college career, and says the skills and relationships she gained here "have shaped the kind of dentist I hope to become." We are lucky to have been part of her journey.
Smileboston launched this newsletter to share valuable insights about advanced dental treatments and the specialized care we provide for complex cases. Dr. Spitz’s extensive experience and training allow us to offer comprehensive solutions tailored to each patient’s unique needs. As we continue to integrate new technology and proven treatment methods, we want to keep you informed about the services available at our practice. Dr. Spitz personally wants to share what’s happening at the MDS, as it is a way to understand our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care. We welcome your suggestions for future topics and encourage you to follow our social media channels for additional updates.
