Hello my little prickly pears!

I hope you're all having a fantastic July and enjoying the summer (or hiding in the shade like I am). I'm drafting a new book (it's in the same world as Bedside Manner), feeling excited about what I'm writing, and trying to recover from my Widow's Bay TV slump.

(Bedside Manner comes out Dec 8 and you can pre-order it here!)

If you're in Toronto, come see me and my good friend Maggie North on Thursday!! We'll be talking all things author life, romance books, and Fossil Feud, her book that comes out TUESDAY. If you haven't pre-ordered your copy, please do (or consider requesting it through your local library). I read an early draft of this book and haven't stopped talking about it since.

You can find tickets for Toronto here!

Her name is Abba and she's the sweetest, cuddliest little lady. Here's her looking pensive and sad as she gazes out the window of my office. She was originally supposed to be a service dog, but she's partially deaf, so she no longer qualified. We adopted her through PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs Society) and are so grateful she's in our lives. Just look at that little face.
So, our dogs are named Abby and Abba, and despite it being cute and funny, it was EXTREMELY confusing and even months later, we're still calling them the wrong names. I called my son Abba the other day. We're figuring it out.

Speaking of Demon Baby, he LOVES having a new little sister! They love to play together and run around together. Abby loves having a pal and when they play together, it sounds like bears are fighting downstairs, haha. When she does something naughty (like chew up one of Demon Baby's toys), my nanny calls her by her full name, Abba Gloria (her choice!!), which always cracks me up. Abby's full name is Abigail Susan.

After being so scared from Widow's Bay that I had nightmares, I needed something silly, funny, and delicious. Not Suitable For Work is about 4 twenty-somethings in New York, trying to figure out careers and love. Even if it's a premise that's been done before, Mindy Kaling puts her fresh take on it and I had to force myself to turn it off so I could go to bed. Can't wait for season 2!

I love a well-known story told from a different perspective (like Wicked). The Other Bennet Sister is about Mary, who, in Pride and Prejudice, was painted as an ugly, drab bore. This TV series is her story, and she is ANYTHING BUT an ugly drab bore. She is very, very funny and peculiar in an endearing way and earnest. Nothing gets me in the heart like a woman coming into her own person when she's been overlooked and belittled her entire life. I'm still thinking about this show. I can't recommend enough!!!

Going home for the first time in years should be simple: move back in, help around the ranch when possible, and try not to mess everything up. But when I get there—after running out of gas, mind you—I discover the ranch and summer camp my late parents left us are on the road to ruin.
I can focus on the task at hand…or so I think. Really, though, I can’t keep my eyes off the grumpy man in the cabin next to mine.
Dominic Diaz is fifteen years older than me and trying damn hard to look like he’s not interested. He almost pulls it off—except for the way his Adam’s Apple bobs every time I walk around in my tiny shorts.
Or in nothing at all.
But, to my great dismay, he won’t do anything about it.
I try to stay away, but how could I? He’s a little rough around the edges, with salt-and-pepper hair, a full beard, and deliciously calloused hands from working on the ranch day in and day out.
The tension between us rises.
The scorching touches burn brighter.
There’s only so much teasing a man can take before he eventually falls into my bed. We say just once, to get it out of our systems, but that was another lie.
I break the cardinal rule: I fall for him instead.
Because underneath all that tough exterior, there’s a soft man who makes me laugh, who wants the same thing I do—to turn this ranch around without losing ourselves in the process.
But secrets can only stay secret for so long.

A tempting new romance from USA Today bestselling author Grace Reilly, in which a down-on-his-luck chef and a determined social media maven strike a reluctant deal to bring a beloved restaurant back to life.
If you can’t take the heat…get out of the kitchen.
After a public meltdown in the dining room of one of Manhattan’s most elite restaurants, Chef Jack Hartman is back in his South Florida hometown. Angry, grieving, and saddled with the unwanted storefront his late mentor left him, his life is spinning out of control. And that’s before Poppy Winfield—the bubbly, infuriating daughter of his former boss—shows up at his dock.
Poppy needs to escape. From her family, her ex-boyfriend, and her reputation as someone who has never taken anything seriously. But more than that, she wants to prove herself—and she has just the plan to do it. Unfortunately, that plan involves Jack Hartman, the most arrogant, intimidating man she’s ever had the pleasure of throwing a shrimp at.
Poppy proposes a deal: they work together to open a revamped version of his mentor’s restaurant. Jack will handle the menu, and she’ll use her social media influence to sell the hell out of its grand opening. If she and Jack can make it a success, it’ll be a ticket for them both to return to New York.
Jack is intrigued, but only on his terms: If Poppy’s going to do this, she must learn the ropes of the business. From him.
As sparks fly both in and out of the kitchen, Poppy and Jack are left wondering, could they be a perfect pairing? Or is this whole experiment a recipe for disaster?
