Danger, magic… and a voice you can’t ignore
Hey friend!

Oh my goodness, how did it get to be Thanksgiving week already?

It’s kind of like the other day when I got caught in a time warp. The scene I was writing only lasted about three minutes, but when I looked up at the clock… two hours had passed! I was completely unaware of the passage of time. What can I say, it was a really good scene 😎.

Speaking of good scenes… this month I'm sharing a peek behind the curtain at two very different stories—secrets of Brimcliffe in The Locke Mystique, and a swoon-worthy Phantom moment in my special retelling just for Nightbloom members.

So, without further ado…

🌙 Brimcliffe & Arisa Locke

Last month I shared the official blurb for The Locke Mystique, this month we'll dive into the lore…

Brimcliffe looks like a city stitched together by gaslamps and cobblestones, but peel back one layer and you find something ancient and hungry coiled beneath it.

And the woman who stands right at the fault line is Arisa Locke.

Until recently, she thought her biggest problem was living up to her father’s impossible legacy. Stage magician. Theater owner. Logical skeptic. She’s spent her life performing—on stage and off—hiding her fears, carrying the weight of the past, and trying to keep everyone she loves safe.

But the supernatural she’s denied for so long is crashing into her carefully logical world, and Arisa is about to discover that some legacies are far heavier than she ever imagined.

Every trick she masters, every performance she gives, is a desperate connection with her father’s memory. But the truth is, she’s not Henry Locke—and every night, the theater reminds her of it.

Unknowingly key to an ancient artifact, Arisa has no choice but to confront secrets buried deep in her family’s past… and to decide whether she’ll continue living in her father’s shadow—or finally become herself.

🎭 A Glimpse Into the Phantom Retelling

Last month I shared that I was writing a Phantom retelling, just for Nightbloom members. Are you ready for a sneak peek?

What if the voice you’ve been told to silence is the only thing that can set you free?

"Let me hear your song, Amelie." A sugared richness rolled from his voice. Awareness shivered down her skin.
"I can't—" Her voice broke. "What if I—what if something happens—"
His gaze locked on to hers. Mesmerizing. "It will."
Her breath caught.
"You think I brought you up here to stay quiet?" Silver sparks exploded in his eyes. "To keep holding back what you are?"
"I'm afraid—"
"I know."
"What if I hurt you?"
He reached out, his gloved fingers tilting her chin up, forcing her to meet his eyes. "Then hurt me."

Can I scream now? 😍 I had no idea how much I would enjoy writing this gothic romance, and I'm so excited to share it with ya'll!
It's actually turning into a full length novel, because I apparently don't know how to write a short story. So even more to enjoy. 😉

I’m working hard to get the Phantom retelling into your hands before Christmas—fingers crossed! If it does trickle into January, I promise it's because I'm making it the best it could be. Because ya'll are worth it.

And for December, I can’t wait to share more secrets from Brimcliffe and The Locke Mystique—more of the world, more of its hidden corners, and more of Arisa Locke herself.
