Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

July 19, 2026

Dear First name / friend,
Yesterday we attended the 7th Annual Newport Lobby Muddy Fest, one of my favorite local events.

What started about eight years ago as a casual Sunday gathering of a group of young guys rehashing the weekend over lobster rolls and mudslides has grown into a community fundraiser that’s raised well over $100,000 for Newport Mental Health Services.

The event was packed at one of Newport’s favorite waterfront bars, and our group of friends and extended friends (mostly in the 55+ crowd) somehow managed to take over an entire section that I affectionately referred to as “the geriatric ward.” 😄

It was one of those afternoons that reminded me how much I love Newport. Pretty much everywhere we go, there are people in their 20's, up to 70's and beyond. And everyone was there for the same reason—to have fun, support a great cause, and enjoy a summer Saturday with friends.

Turns out, good music, good friends, and a good cause are just as much fun at 60 as they were at 30.

…Now, here’s what’s been happening at B.Styled…

1. Style Problem Solved - Inbetween Outfits
This week’s Style Problem Solved: What do you wear for those occasions that aren’t really casual…but aren’t overly dressy either? Since those make up about 90% of my social life, I shared a few easy ways to look more put-together without feeling overdressed.

*Think of these looks as formulas where you can plug in what you own to make looks that work for you.

2. Seasonal Style Tip & Shopping Advice

As tempting as the end-of-summer sales are, now isn’t the time to add a bunch of new pieces to your summer wardrobe.

Unless you’re filling a specific hole, you’ve already made it through most of the season.

Instead, wear what you own, try some new combinations, and enjoy the more relaxed pace of summer without spending money on things you probably don’t need. (I’m saying this as a reminder to myself too. 😉)

The same goes for fall.

It’s a little too early to start buying sweaters, boots, and jackets just because they’re showing up in stores.

Instead, spend the next few weeks paying attention to your outfits. Every time you think, “I wish I had…” or “This just isn’t working,” make a note in your phone.
By the time late August rolls around, you’ll have a shopping list based on what you actually need—not what the internet is trying to sell you.

And if you’ve been missing the daily outfit prompts, they’ll be back with the Fall Style System. Until then, enjoy wearing your favorite summer pieces, experiment with new combinations, and let your wardrobe tell you what it actually needs before you shop.

I created this image almost 10 years ago, and it's still an important reminder:

This Week’s Find: My Go-To Summer Nail Colors 💅
Image item
I get asked about my nail colors pretty often, so I thought I’d share my current favorites.

I’m a little boring when it comes to nail polish.  Once I find a color I love, I usually stick with it for the entire season.

👉🏼 Fingernails: OPI Lisbon Wants Moor
It’s the perfect modern neutral—clean, fresh, and it goes with everything. It makes my hands look polished without committing to an actual color.

👉🏼 Toes: OPI Dutch Tulips
Lately I’ve been loving this pinkish-red for summer. It’s classic, cheerful, and looks great with sandals…and the shade works with most of my wardrobe.

I occasionally wear Lisbon Wants Moor on my toes too, but in the summer I usually like a little more color down there.

How about you??
What nail color are you loving this summer?
I’m always on the lookout for a new favorite, so if you have one you love, let me know!

That's it for today!  Thanks for being here.
Have a great week ahead, and remember to #justgetdressed. ✅👍🏼
