Central Texas Is Thinking Bigger
A new nonprofit, the Central Texas Alliance, has officially launched to unite the 13-county Austin–San Antonio megaregion around shared priorities including transportation, workforce development, housing, water, healthcare, energy resilience, and land stewardship.
The organization was founded by former San Antonio Mayor and U.S. Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros and is led by CEO A.J. Rodriguez, formerly of Texas 2036. Co-chairs include Gary Farmer, president of Heritage Title Company and a founder of Opportunity Austin, and Jenna Saucedo-Herrera, head of corporate impact at USAA and former CEO of greater:SATX.
The alliance is modeled after organizations like the North Texas Commission and Greater Houston Partnership and aims to represent a region of more than 5 million people, 13 counties, and 120 municipalities.
