Community Connections

This summer, Shop Rat Foundation has been out in the community inspiring the next generation of makers and problem-solvers!
 

We participated in the 32nd Annual Learning Fair at Northwest Elementary School and the Jackson Back to School Blast Community Resource Fair, where families explored 3D printing through live demonstrations, received 3D-printed giveaways, and learned how advanced manufacturing technology is shaping future careers.
 

We also partnered with the YMCA during their STEAM Week, bringing in the DreamMakers Robotics Team for an interactive robotics demonstration. Nearly 50 youth experienced hands-on learning as they explored robotics, engineering, and the exciting possibilities within STEM.

This edition of Built Here shines a light on Danfoss's Hydraulic Cylinder Hub in Jackson. The facility plays an important role in designing and manufacturing hydraulic cylinders that power equipment used in construction, agriculture, material handling, and other industries around the world.

With advanced manufacturing technology, skilled trades professionals, and a commitment to innovation, the Jackson team demonstrates how world-class manufacturing happens right here in our community. Their work supports global industries while creating high-quality careers and strengthening Jackson's reputation as a leader in advanced manufacturing.

Machining U Summer Camp offers students a hands-on introduction to manufacturing technology and career paths in the industry.

The program covers safety, precision machining, welding, and includes field trips to local facilities. Students may also qualify for high school elective credit upon completion.

Our Intermediate Robotics Camp is designed for students ready to take their robotics skills to the next level through hands-on challenges, programming, and teamwork.

Registration is open for students enrolled in grades 5-8!
