🌾✨ Welcome August Celestial Forecast 2026 ☀️🌿✨

August is a month of abundance, celebration and transformation. Across Britain, the long school holidays continue, outdoor festivals are in full swing, and the Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 31st August offers one last opportunity to savour the season before autumn begins its gentle approach. As someone with a birthday in late August, I always smile at the old saying that the August Bank Holiday arrives with a shower or two!

Named after the Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar, the month was originally known as Sextilis, meaning "the sixth month" in the early Roman calendar. The Anglo-Saxons called it Ƿēodmōnaþ (Weed Month), reflecting the luxuriant growth of late summer as nature reaches the height of its abundance before the harvest gathers pace.

This year, August is particularly rich in celestial and spiritual significance. We celebrate the Khemitian (Egyptian) New Year and the first harvest festival of Lúnasa (Lughnasadh) or Lammas, experience the powerful 8:8 Lion's Gate Portal, witness the spectacular Perseid Meteor Shower beneath dark skies, and journey through a remarkable eclipse season with both a Total Solar Eclipse and a Partial Lunar Eclipse. Alongside these are a wealth of Egyptian, Roman, Chinese, Hindu and Buddhist festivals, each offering opportunities for reflection, gratitude and spiritual growth.

The Ancient Egyptian New Year traditionally marked the annual flooding of the Nile and was closely associated with the heliacal rising of Sirius, the sacred star of Aset (Isis). In the Northern Hemisphere, this date also celebrates Lúnasa, the first harvest festival, honouring abundance, transformation and the ripening of the year's intentions. The celebrations continue on 2nd August with the Festival of Neith, honouring the Ancient Egyptian creator goddess of wisdom and destiny.

The Lion's Gate Portal is a powerful annual alignment associated with Sirius, Ancient Egyptian wisdom and spiritual awakening. The Perseids are one of the year's most spectacular meteor showers, with up to 60 meteors per hour visible at their peak. This year's New Moon provides wonderfully dark skies, creating ideal viewing conditions throughout the peak period, weather permitting.

The Perseid Meteor Shower reaches its peak around the mornings of 12th–13th August. Look towards the north-east ideally just before dawn for the best chance of seeing shooting stars radiating from the constellation Perseus, with the dark New Moon skies making this an exceptional year for observing the display. Although the path of totality falls outside the UK, this Total Solar Eclipse brings powerful energies for transformation, fresh beginnings and setting heartfelt intentions. The 24 hours following the New Moon are also an ideal time to perform a New Moon Abundance Ritual or refresh your Vision Board.

This Ancient Egyptian festival honours Aset (Isis) through the symbolism of light, from the life-giving power of the Sun by day to candles and sacred flames after dark. Its proximity to the Roman Festival of Diana highlights fascinating links between these ancient traditions.
📖 Thursday – 13th August - Angela McGerr's Angel Almanac is published
I'm delighted that Angela McGerr's newly revised, updated edition, is due to be published on 13th August. It combines the original first two parts with a brand-new 9,000-word introduction, offering fresh context for both new and returning readers. The Roman Festival of Diana celebrates the goddess of the Moon, wild places, woodland, fertility and the hunt. Sacred oak groves were dedicated to her, making this a beautiful time to reconnect with nature and honour the feminine aspects of strength, intuition and protection.

Obon is a traditional Japanese Buddhist festival during which families honour their ancestors with lanterns, bonfires, offerings and remembrance. Like the Ancient Egyptian Day of the Light, it beautifully reflects the enduring symbolism of light as a bridge between worlds and generations.

Seventeen days after the Ancient Egyptian New Year, the Feast of Wagy honours ancestors and those who have passed beyond the veil. Traditionally, families gathered at tombs with offerings, incense and shared meals, remembering loved ones with gratitude and reverence.

This Ancient Egyptian festival commemorates Tehuti (Thoth), god of wisdom, healing and sacred knowledge, and the restoration of the Eye of Heru (Horus). It is an especially powerful day for study, meditation and accessing higher guidance, making it an ideal time to explore the Akashic Records Meditation, available from the Harmony Shop.

Consualia honoured Consus, guardian of the harvest and wise counsel, celebrating the successful gathering and safeguarding of the season's bounty. Horses and working animals were traditionally decorated with garlands and given a well-earned day of rest in recognition of their service.

Celebrated in many Buddhist and Chinese communities, the Hungry Ghost Festival is a time to honour ancestors and offer prayers or symbolic gifts for souls who have not yet found peace. Falling close to the Full Moon, it invites remembrance, compassion and gratitude across the generations.

This month's Full Moon coincides with a Partial Lunar Eclipse, encouraging reflection, release and the completion of cycles before autumn unfolds. Celebrated on the August Full Moon, Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival honouring the enduring bond between brothers and sisters. Through the tying of a sacred thread, it symbolises love, protection, gratitude and lifelong family connections.

The Summer Bank Holiday offers a final opportunity to embrace the joys of late summer before autumn begins to unfold. Whether you're exploring the countryside, enjoying a local nature walk or forest bathing, or joining one of Britain's many community celebrations, it's a wonderful day to reconnect with both nature and one another.

One of the highlights of the weekend is London's vibrant Notting Hill Carnival, Europe's largest street festival, where Caribbean music, dance and culture transform the streets into a joyful celebration of diversity, creativity and community.
