Your brand guidelines aren't doing anything until you do this

Happy Tuesday!

This month I'm kicking off a new series: Brand in Action. All month, we're taking the brand guidelines you already have and putting them to work in the tools you actually use every day starting with Canva.

If you've got your colors, fonts, and logo sitting in a guidelines document but not built into your workflow yet, this week's tip is for you.

This is the very first thing I did after my own brand refresh last month. Before anything else, I rebuilt my Canva Brand Kit so my new look would show up consistently everywhere, right away (and then I tackled my backend systems like Dubsado and Flodesk).

Setting up your Canva Brand Kit:
  • Colors — add your hex codes so your exact palette is one click away, every time
  • Fonts — select or upload your primary (heading) and secondary (subheading and body) fonts so you're never scrolling to find them
  • Logo — save your logo files (including all variations) for instant access
    • I typically save logomarks in the Icons folder to remind me of their role
Once your Brand Kit is set up, every new design starts one step closer to done and you're not hunting for the right hex code or re-uploading your logo for the tenth (or 100th) time.

Tip Tuesday Takeaway:
Set up your Canva Brand Kit once (the right way) and your palette, fonts, and logo are always one click away!

If pulling this together on your own still feels like a lot to manage (or if you're not sure your current guidelines have everything Canva needs), I can help build it out for you.

Until next time,
