Benowa Students Build Global Connections at Harvard Summer Camp Over the recent holidays, two Benowa State High School students had the amazing opportunity to attend the Harvard College Union Society Summer Camp at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. The program brought together students from around the world, providing a unique opportunity to engage in academic discussions, leadership activities, and collaborative projects in one of the world's most prestigious university settings. Throughout the camp, our students explored new ideas, developed their communication and critical thinking skills, and gained valuable insights from experienced University mentors and lecturers. One of the most rewarding aspects of the experience for students was the opportunity to form lasting friendships with students from a diverse range of countries and cultures. By working together, sharing perspectives, and participating in team-based challenges, our students developed a deeper appreciation for global citizenship and the value of international collaboration. Representing Benowa State High School with enthusiasm and maturity, both students embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute. Their participation reflects our school's commitment to providing enriching learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom and prepare students to thrive in an increasingly connected world. We congratulate our Christian and Xaviar on their outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing how they continue to apply the knowledge, confidence, and international connections they gained through this remarkable experience. |

QParents at Benowa State High School |
|
We are excited to be introducing QParents as an important part of how we connect with families and manage school processes at Benowa State High School. From Term 4, all excursion and activity consent forms will be completed through QParents. This change will streamline the process for families, removing the need for paper forms and making it quicker and more convenient to provide consent. What is QParents? QParents is a free and secure online application provided by the Queensland Government that allows parents and carers to easily access and manage their child’s school information. What can you do in QParents? Using QParents, families can: - Provide digital consent for excursions and school activities
- View timetables, report cards and upcoming events
- Notify the school of absences, including planned future absences
- Access behaviour information
- Make payments and monitor account balances
- Receive important school communications
This means everything you need is available in one convenient place, accessible at any time on your computer or mobile device. Getting started Setting up QParents is simple: - Visit https://qparents.qld.edu.au
- Create your account
- Download the app for easy access on your phone or tablet
Your information is secure, with QParents meeting strict privacy standards and using data sourced directly from the Department of Education’s OneSchool system. Why this change? Moving to QParents will: - Reduce paperwork for families
- Provide faster, more efficient communication
- Ensure consent forms are completed and tracked securely
- Offer greater visibility of your child’s school information
We encourage all families to set up their QParents account as soon as possible to ensure you are ready to provide consent for upcoming excursions and take advantage of the many features available. If you require assistance, please contact the school office – we are here to help. |

Beyond School: Rethinking What Success Looks Like When families choose a school, one question sits quietly in the background: “What will this mean for my child’s future?” Traditionally, success has been measured in a narrow way…academic results, university pathways, and standard career trajectories. But in reality, success looks very different from one student to the next. At Benowa State High School, we are proud to see our alumni building fulfilling futures across a wide range of industries, from the arts and elite sport to business and professional fields. This diversity is not by accident. It reflects a belief that education should not direct students toward a single path, but instead equip them with the skills, confidence and resilience to pursue their own. Our upcoming Beyond Benowa Network Breakfast on Friday 14 August brings this belief to life. By welcoming back former students Scott Freeman (Director EMF), Christo (Hot Tomato radio presenter) and Matt Gill (Managing Director & Solicitor MCG Legal) to share their journeys, we are providing our community with something more powerful than inspiration, real examples of what is possible. Their stories highlight that success is not linear, nor is it identical. And perhaps most importantly, they show that what matters most is not just what students achieve at school, but what they are able to build beyond it. |

Multicultural Day – A Celebration of Diversity |
|
Our school’s Multicultural Day (MCD) will be held on Tuesday, 15 September, and is proudly recognised as the largest and most highly anticipated event on our school calendar. This special day is a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural diversity that makes up our school community, with over 56 countries represented across our student population. Multicultural Day brings together students, staff, and families in a joyful showcase of traditions, stories, and perspectives from around the world. Throughout the day, the school will come alive with dance, music, performances, and food, offering a truly immersive cultural experience. Students have the opportunity to share and celebrate their heritage, while also learning about and appreciating the cultures of others. It is an event filled with colour, energy, and a strong sense of community connection. At the heart of Multicultural Day is our commitment to providing authentic cultural experiences that promote understanding, inclusion, and respect. These values are central to our school and are reflected in the many multicultural initiatives we proudly support. Events like MCD not only celebrate diversity but also strengthen the bonds within our community, helping students develop a deeper sense of identity and belonging. We look forward to another extraordinary day of celebration and connection in 2026. |

Please remind your students to bring their Student ID Card to school. And to have it out of their bag before they get to the Student Services window or Book Room window. This assist with signing in/out quickly and effortlessly. Any students who do not have an id card can request one through the Student Services window. A replacement card for lost cards is $10. If any students have not had their photo taken they can come to the office when in formal uniform to have one taken, and then a card will be printed. Thank you for your assistance with this. |
