Dear First name / TRS Families, It was great to see so many of you on campus today for Meet the Teacher Day. Now, let's get you ready for the first day of school on Wednesday! *Note: This is a longer email, but please read it entirely - we have updated some policies and procedures this year. |
For the first three days only, parents may park and walk their children to the classrooms. Please only cross at crosswalks, following the directions of the parking lot staff. Vehicles have the right of way on The Rock School’s campus, and pedestrians will be asked to wait for breaks in traffic to avoid disrupting the flow of vehicles leaving campus. If you need to drop & go, here is where your student should be: - Grades K-2
- Before 8:10a - Auditorium for complimentary Morning Care
- 8:10a-8:30a - Drop in front of the main building; they can go to classroom.
- Grades 3-5
- Before 8:10a - Auditorium for complimentary Morning Care
- 8:10a-8:30a - Drop in front of the modular building; they can go to classroom
- Grades 6-12
- Before 8:20a - Any outdoor areas, or the Collaboratory
- After 8:20a - Drop in front of the main building; they go to first period
The entire front of the main building is used for drop off, from the end of the Collaboratory patio all the way to where the sidewalk begins in front of the preschool building. Please pull all the way forward before unloading. Do not stop until you have reached the end of the patio or the nearest car in front of you. 7-8 cars can unload at a time when following this pattern. Students do not need to be at the awning in order to exit your vehicle (unless it’s raining). 📣 Beginning next Monday (August 10), all K-12 students must be dropped off at the designated exit points and not escorted by parents to the classroom. |
Preschool parents must park and walk their Preschoolers to the Preschool door every morning. There are 6 parking spots reserved for Preschool Parents to Dropoff/Pickup, as indicated on the map above. These parking spots are intended for short term use (~ 5 minutes) for dropping off or picking up only. If you need to be parked for a longer period of time, please park in a different location so other Preschool parents may use these spots as intended. Other parking is available behind the gym and in the middle islands. |
If you would like to take photos in front of the school sign on the first day of school, please arrive early as there are often long lines there. To preserve our beautiful sign and landscaping, please remain on the path and do not climb on the rocks or walk or stand in the mulched areas. If you have been around our school awhile and would prefer to take your back-to-school photos in front of our original and historic sign, we have set it up on the auditorium stage for photos on Wednesday morning. |
We believe in giving God our first and our best, which is why we hold Chapel on Monday mornings each week. There will be no Chapel service on Wednesday, August 5h. All students will go directly to their first class at 8:30a. The first Chapel service of 2026-2027 will be on Monday, August 10th. Parents are welcome to attend any Chapel service, but please note that it will be standing room only for parents/guests as students occupy all of the available seating. You can also watch Chapel live online at www.therock.school/livestream. |

What if my student needs help? |
If you missed Meet the Teacher Day, or if your child is confused about where to go when they arrive, no worries! We will have plenty of staff at all of the entrances to help direct students to the right location. Middle & high school students can receive another printed copy of their schedule in the auditorium before 8:30a. |
6-12 Parents: Please do not arrive prior to 3:15 to pick up your students! Your kids will be making friends and making their way to the pickup area after the bell rings at 3:05. They need a few minutes to make their way downstairs to the pickup area, and may not be ready if you arrive earlier than 3:15. |
Wednesdays are early-dismissal days, with school ending for all K-12 students at 12:35p. All other days of the week, school ends at 3:05p. Carline opens 10 minutes prior to dismissal time each day, so please do not arrive any earlier. If the cones/gates are not opened yet when you arrive, you must continue through the parking lot and wait in the back. Our parking lot staff will help you circle back around once carline opens. Upon entering the campus, follow the cones and the flow of traffic and you'll end up in the right spot. Do not park and exit your vehicle. K-5 students are kept indoors until they are loaded into your car for you. The pick-up locations are as follows: - K-2: front of the building (circle through the campus following the cones/traffic flow, then turn right at the front prior to exiting and pick up in front of the double doors near the art room; two lanes of exiting traffic here)
- 3-5: in front of the modular building (turn right to pass in front of the modular building, then pull all the way forward; students loaded from the rear entrance of the building)
- 6-12: at the handicap parking spaces between the patio and the awning (circle the campus, then pull all the way forward to the patio area) 6-12 students are expected to listen for their name being called and meet you at your car after pulling all the way forward. We try to load 4-5 cars at a time along this stretch of the lot.

Please use the Car Line Tags distributed today during Meet the Teacher. This helps our staff identify vehicles quickly and keep the line moving. If you didn’t receive a card today, no problem. Mrs. Ty will have all remaining 6-12 Carline only tags in the front office (for families with students in MYP or DP only). You can stop and pick up your car line tag at any point this week. If your youngest student is in the PYP program, you should have received your tag in your youngest student's classroom this morning. Need an extra tag for another vehicle? Let us know, and we’ll be happy to provide an extra one. |

Students in grades K-5 and 6-8 are checked in to Aftercare approximately 20 minutes after dismissal time each day. If your child is not picked up by 3:25p, they are signed into Play Club. Once signed in, a parent must sign them out when picking them up. Aftercare ends at 6:00p. Your FACTS account will be billed for Aftercare services at $11/day or $110/month. Our updated Campus Cell Phone Policy is part of our ongoing commitment to JOMO, the Joy of Missing Out. We believe our students grow best when they're fully present with the people around them, not distracted by a screen. Updated Cell Phone Policy: Students who need to reach a parent during the day should use the phone in the school office. Students in grades K through 8 are not permitted to use cell phones on campus at any time. Students in grades 9 through 12 are not permitted to use their cell phones from the time they arrive on campus until 3:05 pm. |
If you have any lingering questions after the Parent Orientation and meeting your teachers today, let us know using this form! Someone from our Administration Team will prioritize getting back with you as soon as possible. |
Please be patient during pick-up and drop-off the first few days and expect delays. Usually within a few days, everyone learns the routines, our staff learn the families' cars and everything starts to run quickly and efficiently. Keep in mind also that public schools' first day is on Monday, August 10, so be prepared for school buses and school zones on your way to our campus next week. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to campus Wednesday for a new school year! |
