Happy 1st day of August

My Birthday Month!!!!

(And if you know me I’ll be celebrating all month!)

I was born on the 8th of August, Lion's Gate.

Every single year, while most people are just finishing their summer, my birthday lands on one of the most potent energetic dates on the calendar. I didn't know much about the origin of the Lion's Gate untill last year, so I got curious this year and looked into it.

The Lion's Gate isn't a modern spiritual trend. It goes back to ancient Egypt. Around August 8th, the star Sirius, which the Egyptians called Sopdet, and connected to the goddess Isis (Auset), would rise again after being hidden from the sky for weeks. They called it the heliacal rising. It marked their New Year. It signalled the Nile was about to flood, which meant the land would be fertile again, the crops would come, and life would continue. Ancient temples were literally built and aligned to catch that first light.

This date has meant renewal for thousands of years before anyone called it "Lion's Gate energy."

Egypt experienced this time as a truth: something hidden returns, and everything gets to grow again because of it.

A couple of things that stayed with me from my research: Sirius actually disappears from the sky for about 70 days before this return, which is where the idea of "something hidden coming back" comes from. The Great Sphinx at Giza faces due east, built to catch that exact sunrise. It's also not a coincidence this falls in the heart of Leo season, hence the Lion's Gate.

If you've been following my journey with Egypt, you may know that in September 2023 the energy of Auset awakened in me and came in as a strong voice guiding me to return to Egypt, while supporting me during the intuitive energy healing sessions I offered.

How are all these dots tying together?

I am still figuring it out myself.

I'm curious to what's been hidden in me that's ready to rise again.

SUGGESTED RITUAL:

*Sit with the sunrise or sunset and ask what's ready to rise in you.

* Write down what you're releasing.

*A cleansing bath.

*Or just five minutes of stillness with the sun on your skin.

The ritual isn't the point, it's the reflection that matters.

This year I turn 40.

The stars will align with Sirius and the portals will open.

I'll be celebrating with the people I love most. We will hold a meditation together to consciously open the next chapter. I'll ask what in me is ready to be seen again, and who it's ready to serve.

Because that's really what four decades has taught me. This work was never just for me to hold. It was always meant to move through me, to more people, more fully, than I've let it yet.
