Winds Are Increasing: Crews Remain in the Village Protecting Homes

Weather conditions are expected to become more challenging today and through the weekend as winds increase. BC Wildfire Service crews have planned for these conditions and continue working to strengthen control lines and protect the community.

BC Wildfire Service and the Clinton Volunteer Department remain in the Village of Clinton, maintaining hose and sprinkler systems, patrolling for hot spots, and protecting homes and critical infrastructure. On all sides of the Village, crews continue to put out hot spots, strengthen control lines, and remove vegetation that could still burn, which helps reduce the risk of the fire spreading within the community.

The planned ignition completed west of the rail line helped further strengthen the fire perimeter on the west side of the village, connecting the fire's edge to established control lines so crews can work along a safer and more secure perimeter. Crews continue to mop up along the rail line and will extinguish any remaining hot spots as they are found. South of Clinton, structure protection personnel will continue to patrol properties and monitor for new hot spots as changing weather conditions increase fire activity.

Village of Clinton update 

Securing the Village of Clinton and the surrounding area for a safe return is a priority, but the evacuation order for the Village of Clinton remains in place, and there is currently no estimated timeline for re-entry. While the order is in place, access is restricted to authorized personnel only.

Please note: entering an evacuation order area without authorization is unlawful and may interfere with emergency operations. Please respect road closures and evacuation orders to protect your safety and allow emergency crews to continue their work. Access to the Village may be granted for life safety purposes or to first responders. For information about urgent access to the Village and the requirements to do so, contact the Emergency Operations Centre at 250-377-6313.

 

The Village is working with the TNRD on re-entry planning, including managing spoiled food, appliances, and wildfire debris in time for residents to re-enter. Around the water treatment plant, danger tree removal has begun, an initial wildfire damage assessment has taken place, and initial water testing has begun. Next steps involve further evaluation of the upper reservoir and the development of a testing regime to bring the plant back online once the wildfire threat has subsided. BC Hydro crews are working to restore power, and the most up to date information is on BC Hydro's outage map at bchydro.com.

 

 

These assessments involve multiple agencies and service providers, including BC Wildfire Service, the TNRD, transportation authorities, utility providers, health authorities, and emergency management partners.

Llenllenéy'ten Evacuation Order Remains in Effect

The Evacuation Order issued by Kúkpi7 and Council for High Bar I.R 1, High Bar I.R 1A, and High Bar I.R 2, effective August 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM, remains in effect. 

No person may enter or remain in these areas for any purpose, including fishing or recreational vehicle use. Road systems in the area are shut down for safety. The signed Order and the map of the ordered area are available below.
